I just got this "wax" from Autozone on Friday for $23. The liquid was only $20 at Walmart but I was dead set on having the paste for some reason. It's on the can but I should point out that this is a sealant - no carnauba so don't try to use this on top of a real wax because it probably won't bond very well. The first thing that hits you when you open the can is the smell. This is a sealant ?!?!?. This stuff does not smell like any sealant I have ever tried. Seriously this stuff smells like candy. It smells at least as good as Pinnacle SS II and Fuzion if not better. You get a free foam applicator. It's not free floating in the box though - It's in the lid under a clear plastic holder. You also get a very nice microfiber towel. Applying the sealant is where things get interesting. It goes on like a cross between Fuzion and Autoglym HD Wax. Ultimate Paste Wax has a very oily feel like Fuzion and like Fuzion it spreads like crazy. It's also white and kinda thick like Autoglym HD Wax.The only problem I had applying the stuff is that it's very easy to over apply. If you use the amount you are probably supposed to use you will hardly even be able to tell that there is any there. After I applied the sealant I let it dry for about 20 minutes and then wiped it off. This is not the easiest sealant to remove. It isn't hard - You don't have to rub your arm off but it definitely doesn't just wipe off with no effort like Blackfire. My paint was left slick but it wasn't as slick as Werkstat or Blackfire. The look this product leaves is like a mix of Mother's California Gold (God remember that stuff?) and Fuzion. It isn't a very bright shine but it didn't seem to darken the paint much either. What it did add was an absolutely amazing jewel-like shimmer. The paint just glimmers up close. It also leaves that panel glow like Fuzion does. In fact I would love to see how this stuff would look topped with an application of Fuzion. This is after an application of Werkstat Acrylic Prime Strong at least 5 applications of Acrylic Jett Trigger (Over about two months) and three applications of Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax within two days. I don't have a buffer yet so the only polishing I've done has been with the Acrylic Prime Strong.
i tried it awhile back ago, its a great beater wax........typical meguiair's OTC, but you are right the smell is nice.
I got another can of Ultimate Paste Wax last month and I am really puzzled. The first can was extremely irritating to use. When I tried to apply it to the paint the stuff wouldn't spread well at all. It would start off buttery like Fuzion and then a few seconds later it would kind of gunk up and just refuse to spread any more. Ans no matter how long I left it on the paint and no matter how thin I managed to spread it when I went back to wipe the stuff off it would still be semi-wet and gunky feeling. I couldn't wipe it off ;I had to literally scrub the stuff off because it felt like it was still A little wet and this was after leaving it on the paint for 90 minutes! The second can is so different it's hard to believe it's the same sealant. When I apply it to the paint it goes on a lot like Fuzion. It doesn't quite have that melt-into-the-paint quality but it really spreads like crazy. I really think I could do my Rav4 at least 15 times with this one can it spreads so much better. It's also a lot easier to remove. Part of that might be because it's so much easier to spread it as thin as you need to but it's a night and day difference removing this stuff. It still doesn't just wipe off with no effort like Blackfire of PowerLock but it wipes off very easily. The smell is the same. And best of all we had a lot of rain right after I used it and..No water spots! None! Several times it had rained overnight and when I left for work my SUV was covered in water beads. By the time I got to work all of the water was gone! The first can gave me water spots so bad I wanted to cry. They washed off with no problem every time I washed the SUV but they looked terrible. Apparently Meguiar's is having quality control issues with this product. I bought both cans at the same store (Auto Zone)
Either they're having quality control issues now or they were when this stuff first came out. Or maybe it just didn't like being applied on to top of all the other crap I had on the paint before?
