Today besides studying I did a really really quick partial detail. It was for an old friend so I didn't charge anything. In short the car couldn't get traction and slid into bushes at a low speed. The car was pretty new so the paint was in decent shape. I'll just let my 2 whole pictures do the talking... Before: After: Thanks for looking.
They were kind of deep, but the paint wasnt too too bad. It wasn't super hard or super soft. Just kind of in the middle. ya...it was icy...they dont want to be named so lets just call them Bob. Bob slid into a bush and there were tons of deep scratches. So Bob went to the car wash and washed the car. When they realized how deep they were ...the called me. I examined them with a microscope and took out everything that I could. The paint is "dented" a bit as you can see in the second picture as well as a really deep scratch on the far right above the fog lamp. haha It was really cold and QD was freezing right away...so I worked quickly and effectively as possible. The car was on a newer vibe....and Bob's parents would kill him if they found out he kid a bush because he backed into a light post not that long ago..(I'll fix it another day). Thanks! and Welcome to Detailing Bliss.
Hang on a second.. Where are you, the QD was freezing.. MAn I thought I was crazy.. How in the hell did you do that correction in the temps you were working in?? :buffing:
I am in Calgary was about -15 when I was working on it. Paint temp was even colder for some reason. If you are careful you can do correction in those temps. I also applied Vintage...but I am not sure if it bonded or not. Yes QD was freezing almost on contact! Bob had the idea of using a hair dryer to melt off the QD. It was a mess hahaha. Detailing in cold temps isn't super bad. -15 is a whole 1.4F
and people looked at me crazy doing on ONR a couple days ago in 27f..... I couldn't do the hood, it was the only panel that would freeze on contact...
Sweet quick detail there sneek...so what did you use to polish? What pad? Rotary? Come on buddy share... Oh and "Bob" sounds very interesting. I think "Bob" should join this forum.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL I will talk to Bob.... Rotary+M02 on the deep stuff. (Speed 3 extra slow passes) W8006 Quick pass of M80 on Rona at speed 6, 6" Sonus white. ScratchX by hand on other parts. Zymol Vintage by applicator pad. (not sure if it hazed though. I didnt spray cold water on it either...because it would freeze.)
 get "Bob" to join  Sounds like a nice process the results speak for it's self though :thumb: well done...was "Bob" impressed? I'm assuming so...what "kind" of payment did you get again? opcorn:
