    Jesse -

I just ordered few Wolf's products and have some questions regarding the application.

    1) Since you say that the protection of the body wrap could be 4 - 6 months, after that time does it completely come off the paint (like a regular sealant) or is it more like opti coat?

    2) Does layering body wrap, say every 2 months add any additional value, meaning, does the first layer of body wrap on the car still goes away after 6 months even though I added a layer after 2 months?

    3) Can I use body wrap on the head/tail lights?

    4) Will it stain the trim or dry like carnuba waxes in cracks if not removed?

    5) during the prep of the paint surface, will applying deironizer take care of everything(oils/wax/sealants). do I need to apply deironizer after washing the car or before washing the car? Any links to videos to apply deironizer?

    6) I clayed both the cars 2 weeks ago. Do you feel there is a need to clay them again?

    7) Danny(a member on the forum who tried body wrap) suggested that on the softer paints, the paint has to be completely dry and he recommended using a blower to remove all the water from the pores. is this a true statement?

    8) Can I use deironizer on the wheels?

    9) After applying the rim sealant, what should I use to wash the wheels? Can I use regular wheel cleaners like Sonax/P21S gel (at full concentration or diluted to 2:1)?

    10) There are very light swirls/marring on both the cars and some etched water spots. Do I have to fully correct them now before applying the body wrap or can I correct them at a later time(before second application down the road)?

    11) After applying body wrap, how long can I live the sprinkler water spots before they really get etched in to the paint. I might not be able to wash the cars every week. I was hoping to wash them every other week and wondering if leaving the water spots for 2 weeks will be etched in to the paint.

    12) I am also looking to get the trim sealant. Can I apply that on the rubber seals?

I apologize if these questions are already answered and thanks for your help Jesse.

    Thanks,
    Abi.

    1) Since you say that the protection of the body wrap could be 4 - 6 months, after that time does it completely come off the paint (like a regular sealant) or is it more like opti coat? Comes off like reg sealant, it will last way longer with proper up keep (using Nano shampoo to wash)

    2) Does layering body wrap, say every 2 months add any additional value, meaning, does the first layer of body wrap on the car still goes away after 6 months even though I added a layer after 2 months? I do not know how to answer this one.... I would say adding another layer would either cover the first layer or it may "replace" the first layer by moving the old nano particles out of place and replace with the new nano particles

    3) Can I use body wrap on the head/tail lights? I did

    4) Will it stain the trim or dry like carnuba waxes in cracks if not removed? I used it on FLAT trim around mirrors with no staining I did not try it on textured trim, you put it on so thin and it almost disappears as you apply I don't think you will see any build up

    5) during the prep of the paint surface, will applying deironizer take care of everything(oils/wax/sealants). do I need to apply deironizer after washing the car or before washing the car? Any links to videos to apply deironizer? Check out Youtube and Jesse and others have some great videos. I use DeIronizer before then washed, IPA wipe and then applied. I want to get some Car Pro Eraser to use before applying products like this even if I am just washing and not polishing

    6) I clayed both the cars 2 weeks ago. Do you feel there is a need to clay them again? Shouldn't be a need, DeIronize, wash and then check the paint to check if clay is needed

    7) Danny(a member on the forum who tried body wrap) suggested that on the softer paints, the paint has to be completely dry and he recommended using a blower to remove all the water from the pores. is this a true statement? I would make sure 100% the paint is dry, I use a leaf blower and towels to dry

    8) Can I use deironizer on the wheels? yes it does a great job

    9) After applying the rim sealant, what should I use to wash the wheels? Can I use regular wheel cleaners like Sonax/P21S gel (at full concentration or diluted to 2:1)? Use reg car soap the sealant will help clean up easier without wheel cleaners

    10) There are very light swirls/marring on both the cars and some etched water spots. Do I have to fully correct them now before applying the body wrap or can I correct them at a later time(before second application down the road)? Up to you, on my wifes van I left the swirls in because I do not have the time right now to polish the vehicle. Next spring I will start from scratch and do a full correction

    11) After applying body wrap, how long can I live the sprinkler water spots before they really get etched in to the paint. I might not be able to wash the cars every week. I was hoping to wash them every other week and wondering if leaving the water spots for 2 weeks will be etched in to the paint. I would wash them right away atleast with a quick detailer

    12) I am also looking to get the trim sealant. Can I apply that on the rubber seals? Jesse?

I know I am not Jesse but I hope I helped and Jesse please make any corrections that are necc

    Hi Abi!

Thanks for the support buddy! OK here goes >>

    1) Since you say that the protection of the body wrap could be 4 - 6 months, after that time does it completely come off the paint (like a regular sealant) or is it more like opti coat?

Technically a nano coating can stay on the surface forever (if washed with water only :)). When a nano coating loses it's beading/sheeting/etc. it's still "in" the paint for the most part, but the "hairs" that make the lotus effect possible have been flattened aka. the "nano bridge" has been destroyed. So yes, once it's "gone" it's technically still in the paint to an extent, but can be removed with machine polishing.

    2) Does layering body wrap, say every 2 months add any additional value, meaning, does the first layer of body wrap on the car still goes away after 6 months even though I added a layer after 2 months?

Absolutely! You can layer nano coatings, but there is a certain point when the different layers that bond to each other won't have a very strong bond. Imagine that you could build up a layer of wax so tall that it would lose its stability; it may be a "hard" substance, but once it gets so far from the surface that it's attached to, the link gets weaker! If the first layer is "gone" after 6 months, trust me it's still there, so adding another layer to it will just build on to the existing.

    3) Can I use body wrap on the head/tail lights?

    Yes sir :)

    4) Will it stain the trim or dry like carnuba waxes in cracks if not removed?

Absolutely not... in fact if the surface is very, very clean when you apply it, it will even disappear into the paint and you won't even see any residue :)

    5) during the prep of the paint surface, will applying deironizer take care of everything(oils/wax/sealants). do I need to apply deironizer after washing the car or before washing the car? Any links to videos to apply deironizer?

Deironizer is meant to remove iron contaminants from the paint, wheels and glass, but it also has the added benefit of degreasing. Therefore it will remove most of the oils, but agitation may be required to help the degreasing process. It will help to remove waxes, but don't forget that this is a pH neutral cleaner, so I would suggest an APC wash after DI! Applying DI... there's no technique really, just spray on, let it sit, agitate if necessary and rinse :)!

    6) I clayed both the cars 2 weeks ago. Do you feel there is a need to clay them again?

I don't think there should be a need for it, but if you put your hand in a plastic grocery bag after the car has been cleaned and rub it along the surface of the car, you will both feel and hear if it needs to be clayed!

    7) Danny(a member on the forum who tried body wrap) suggested that on the softer paints, the paint has to be completely dry and he recommended using a blower to remove all the water from the pores. is this a true statement?

Yes he's right. Softer paints tend to absorb more water in the pores of the paint and when a nano coating is applied to a paint that still has water in the pores, it will trap the water in there and disrupt the natural settling/curing process and the results may not be "as expected". It's best to dry the car then blow dry it, as Danny has suggested, then let it dry naturally for a few hours before application with softer paints. I know it may seem a bit out of the ordinary and a bit of a hassle, but nano coatings behave differently and are a bit more "needy" than waxes, but that's why they're so much better ;).

    8) Can I use deironizer on the wheels?

Yes my friend, that's what it was initially intended to be... a wheel cleaner. Later we found other uses for it, like paint decontamination!

    9) After applying the rim sealant, what should I use to wash the wheels? Can I use regular wheel cleaners like Sonax/P21S gel (at full concentration or diluted to 2:1)?

Most of the time you won't need much other than soap and water, but that depends on how often you clean them. You can use Sonax, as I believe it's a pH neutral cleaner, but stay away from alkalic cleaners, as they will tend to degrade the coating faster. I use Deironizer for weekly cleanings, but once a month I use the nano wheel cleaner we have, Clean & Coat, to refresh the coating.

    10) There are very light swirls/marring on both the cars and some etched water spots. Do I have to fully correct them now before applying the body wrap or can I correct them at a later time(before second application down the road)?

All nano coatings are designed to be applied to a "new" finish, meaning they should be applied to a "perfect" finish. Keep in mind that nano coatings are completely different than any wax on the market. Waxes leave a layer of wax on the surface of the paint, but nano coatings "become" part of the paint, meaning they will take the shape of the paint and build their "nano bridge" on the "terrain" they're applied to. So, if you have a car with a very nice finish, doesn't have to be "perfect", you will get a smooth "bridge", but if the surface is scratched and swirled, the "bridge" won't be as smooth, therefore the water and dirt repelling properties won't be as "smooth". Don't get me wrong, I have applied it to unpolished surfaces with great results, but for the best results the surface should be smooth.

    11) After applying body wrap, how long can I live the sprinkler water spots before they really get etched in to the paint. I might not be able to wash the cars every week. I was hoping to wash them every other week and wondering if leaving the water spots for 2 weeks will be etched in to the paint.

Actually that's a difficult one to answer, because every water is different and has different minerals in it, etc. so I can't really give you a realistic time on that. You should remove them ASAP, but BW will help immensely with keeping them away. Water spots form when the water is left to sit on the car for a long time without drying. This allows the minerals in the water to settle down to the surface of paint and "latch" on to the paint. Once they've latched on to the paint, the other guys (minerals) coma along and latch on to them, then the water evaporates and you're left with deposits... Very similar to the way a nano coating settles, but without the spots, just a wicked shine :). The sun will aid in hardening them and etching them more into the paint, but yes nano will help to keep this from happening, but again it's not bulletproof.

    12) I am also looking to get the trim sealant. Can I apply that on the rubber seals?

Yes you can! Just make sure that the trim or anything that you're applying it to is VERY clean before you apply it, just as with the nano coating.

No need for apologies about anything Abi, I'm here to help/explain so shoot away if you have any more questions about anything, my friend ;)!

    Cheers,

    Jesse
