I want to add a really good APC to my arsenal of cleaning products, Ive read that a lot detailers actually use APC to strip the wax off of a vehicle in order to prep it for paint correction and then use the same product to clean the brake dust off the wheels. Please advise, Im paying a visit to eshine this friday to stock up on some items and then will proceed to start the cleaning of the newest addition to my vehicle fleet 2007 yellow audi. The paint looks like it is in awesome shape. May use some M105 on an applicator to clean up around the door handle, scratches. Thanks in advance! Rohit
You can't go wrong with Optimum Power Clean. OPC really stands out on cleaning wheels, but also works great for cleaning tires, fenderwells, interior, etc.....
I will agree with Justin, Opt Power Clean is a great APC! It is a very gentile and safe APC on delicate serfaces BUT it can really clean! I use it on leather (10:1), tires (3:1), srip APC (4-5oz/24oz water), and almost anything else.
Thanks for the info, optimum power clean for the win! I will pick up the large size so that I have a decent supply on hand for whenever I clean my cars! I guess the only question left is how would I go about using this on paint to remove any potential traces of wax/sealant? What would be a good ratio to dilute it and would I just use it like car wash soap in a bucket and wash mit? Should I mix some dishwashing liquid into it as well? On an aside, AGPATEL, I loved your write up on the detail you did on your 2006 VW GTI. It really inspired me to get more serious about detailing and make the investment in some really good products outside of the realm of over the counter. My collection isnt as big as the members on this forum, but bit by bit right? I will post photos of my detailing attempt on Audi! Cheers and thanks!
To strip LSPs and oils do you happen to have a foam gun or cannon? If so that would be the best way, and if not and you have a few bucks then go to home depot or target and get a cheap knock off. Target, check out the car isle and look for the sprayer with a soap chamber, at Home Depot the weed section they may have one that looks like a foam gun. Few oz to some water works fine. If that does not work then about 4-5oz in soap bucket (2-3 gallons of water) will be dine. Just wear long rubber gloves as Opt Power Clean can dry out your hand a bit with long exposure times. Thanks for the complement, but didnt think my write up was anything special compared to others but glad it got you going. You are right about bit by bit, that is how I have started out and surprisingly I am where I am now. Enough supplies to run a detailing gig for a year.
Thanks for the tip, I may pick up a foamer on Friday when Im at eshine, I guess the only other question I have, Im growing tired of spending countless dollars on alloy wheel cleaners and was wondering what would be a good ratio to mix this APC with water to use on brake dusted rims??? When all my wheel cleaners run out, I have no intention to replace them, all the write up on detailing vehicles seem to involve APC as an adequate wheel cleaner with some agitation and wheel for the most part come out looking awesome. Im also going to get my hands on some optimum metal polish to use on the exhaust tips of the car, they look horriible. I tried some nevr dull on them and they started to come back, but I think I will have to do the APC soak and then use a bristle brush follwed by some 0000 steel wool and optimum metail polish. Thanks again, I will definitely look into getting a foam cannon, I live in Canada, so there isnt any Target locations here, although I wish there was. I have been to the Target in Buffalo a few times and one in Chicago. When I get around to it, i will take some photos of my small collection. Cheers, Rohit
