Question: Method to remove this haze & marring?

I did a one-step polish on my black Rabbit in early October.

However, I didn't have time to get a layer of 845 before the snow fell in November.

My dilemma is how shall I best correct the minor imperfections (refer to pic at bottom)?

I'm thinking Menzerna Power Finish applied via PC and a LC blue 6" and Uber Blue 4inch pad (for tight areas).

Otherwise, should I make a purchase of Menzerna Super Finish or Final Polish (85RD) for better results?

As you can see, it's not really swirl marks, it's more so a haze and very small maring on the very top surface.

    UPDATES (5.23.11)

With a break in the weather (and tornadoes) I decided to wash my car - and I decided to strip the old stuff, clay, and lay new wax (to hold me out until I do a one-step finish).

But the detailing bug bit me...so I broke out the PC and did what I could.

I used a 5.5" Uber Blue pad with 85RD on my PC and here are the results.

After a 9-5 work day, I only had a chance to do one side (passenger). So I locked up the entire car with AG HD Wax to get to in a few weeks or whenever I can.

Passenger side done - gunna resume another weekend.

PS...I'm not going for 100% correction as this is a daily.

Power finish should not be used for finishing as its used for polishing. You need to use Menzerna Final Finish, MIcro finish, or super finish for for last step with Uber Blue pad.

    I would go with PO85RD or PO106FA

Other than that make sure you work the polish long enough to break down fullly so take a little more time' than you think.

Thanks Dave. That's exactly what I needed to know.

In fact, I was going to make the purchase from DD since there is currently a 15% off deal.

I figured I would end up jeweling it with a finishing polish.

    I'm thinking 85RD.

    Thanks again!

im one of those guys who goes into something fully loaded...... if you know what I mean, so I invested in a whole arsenal of products, that way I won't find myself without when "I need it the most" I have powergloss, powerfinish, Superfinish and Super intensive polish and a few others from P&S. Ive also started to collect pads, that way im not again in a situation "without" the right set up. I do not do alot of correction but I learned fast that its always good to be prepared.

I disagree. Power Finish on a green or black pad will finish down more than good enough to go straight to your LSP. Although using 85rd or 106 will amp up the gloss a bit, for the average guy, the increase in gloss isn't worth the extra time associated with going around the car one more time.

    I would agree.

I just finished out a Lexus in gold that worked great!

    M3ride. Wax on..Wax off

Totally agree as well. Power Finish will def get rid of that, it's the only polish I use. And you'll gain more than enough gloss with your lsp anyways.

I have to agree with Ken and Phil because I just recorrected my black mustang gt yesterday with M105 on yellow uber then followed by Powerfinish with a green uber, it left it lsp ready. I have 85RD but after seeing the results with Powerfinish on a green uber, it was not necessary this time to use my 85RD on a blue uber. I went straight on to applying ezcreme, blackfire wet diamond, and then AG HD.

Well...I went ahead and made an order last night with DD and purchased some 85RD and a few more pads.

Since this will still be a single-step correction I think I'll see how the 85RD works.

Any other car this summer will probably be 1-step Power Finished with various pads.

    Thanks for the help guys.

I have always found this chart useful.

I guess i should have been specific, i never use power finish as my finishing compound as i like to use less aggressive polishes paired with more aggressive pads, instead of the other way around.
Because i have a lot of different Menzerna polishes i have a specific use for each of them. as each Menzerna polish can be used with multiple pads so you will figure out what works best for you and each specific type of paint.

85RD works great on a green, blue, or black Uber or a LC Hydrotech Tangerine depending on weather your trying to do some light correction or just bring out the gloss from prior steps. If i was you I would use Powerfinish on a green uber then follow it up with 85RD on a blue uber. You should get it to look pretty good that way if you need a bit more cut for certain areas change only the pad to a orange or yellow uber with Powerfinish but still finish down with 85RD on a blue after.

    Bump.

I added three more pics to the first post; one of which is under halogen.

IMHO - I'd try Megs M205/LC white pad to remove the haze followed by Menz PO106/LC black pad to increase the clarity and shine.

    FYI

I learned from the Menz rep that PO106 is the same product and has the exact same "powder" in it as PO85.

Except, PO106 has more "powder" in it. Hence the additional expense..
I personally believe that PO106 works better/faster using less product.
