It's been a slow start, but business is starting to pick up. I'm not new to detailing, but I'm new to charging people for it . I've been on other forums longer, but finally found DB last year. I've been mainly lurking and learning, but now it's time to get my name out there. I'm located in San Diego if anyone's interested, and I'm willing to travel if need be. I've been mainly doing Wash and Waxes as a new business, but I'm starting to get a few correction jobs, which is what I'm really looking forward to! Anyways... This was a "Quick Correction" detail as I call it. Not a package, but a custom job. Sadly, I haven't documented my work very well, and I get so into detailing when I'm working on a car, that I forget to stop and take photos. I am also very limited to my options, an 8 year old digital camera that's on it's way out, or a Samsung Galaxy phone! In order to promote, I traded detailing for photography. My first client showed up way too late for me to do any correction, and it was a silver M3, so I didn't get much done. This is the second client I contacted and he definitely helped me out. These photos came out better than I was hoping. I spent more time than I initially planned to give out for free, but like I said, I love what I do and sometimes I forget to hold back and stay within budget :crash: . So here's my first "Pro Studio" post: Very Simple Detail: ONR Wash Sonax FE IPA Wipe Down D300/MF Cutting Pad HD Poxy No interior on this, strictly paint work and deep cleaning the rims. Hopefully once he fixes a few issues, he'll let me do a full correction on it some day. I was also able to give him a few paint readings, which determined the passenger side had to of been repainted at some time. He was unaware of that, but the paint readings were much higher and there were a few noticeable flaws in the painting. That's the benefit of Quenga Detailing. Even if I don't do correction, paint readings come for free for your piece of mind. Now he knows a little bit more about his car! You can see me in the reflection getting the ONR bath ready After the basic wash. I don't typically do foam baths or try to get everything in the first shot. I take off the heavy and easy stuff with ONR, then I focus on any remaining stubborn spots. They helps minimize the temptation to "scrub" a spot off when washing, then capture larger particles of dirt in the mitt. If it doesn't come off with the initial ONR wash, it get's special attention for being naughty... Under the lights... I cut the trunk in three to test which 1-step would be the best. Either an AIO polish/glaze, a light polish with HD Polish, or simply the greatest gift to detailing, D300/MF Cutting disc. Sometimes the MF disc can cause too much haze, so I usually don't do it unless I'm correcting and polishing the paint. But, the BMW held up to it well and it offered better correction with comparable polish. Love this stuff! This photo can also tell you how long I've been detailing...that's a 7424, no XP! (But I did just order a GG, the PC is either on it's way out, or does not like being used for correction, polishing and waxing for a full day! It gets hot a lot faster than it used to. Going to make it my full-time mini-polisher from now on. Say Goodbye my swirly friends...Just ONE pass! Say no to hard water spots... These have to be some of the coolest photos of Sonax I've ever seen! Who needs a pressure washer? Got my eco-friendly Nomad! Favorite wheel cleaner of all time. BOOM! Not perfect, but hopefully he'll want FULL correction later . You don't always have to spend a lot of money on a full detail to make a significant improvement!
Great work there! I haven't been able to use D300 for a single step correction yet, but after seeing this I want to try more. -Kody-
Nice job on the car and great correction for a 1 stepper. Is this your home or your clients? Reason I am asking is did the SOnax FE stain the concrete? I have only used it on cars in the street as I dont want to stain my driveway. thanks
Make sure if you use it in the driveway to spray the driveway off when you are finished rinsing the wheels. I do this and it does not stain my driveway when I useFE. My driveway would call me or send me a text yelling at him if not :shead: The M3 looks beyond awesome, good job man!
That looks awesome, nice work. I do hate it when people have German plates underneath US number plates. Probably one of the dumbest trends there ever was... You should have just taken it off
Yeah, I've never actually done it as a 1-step either, haha. But I wanted to correct as much as possible and metallic paints usually hold up well/mask any marring, etc. Since I didn't polish out, I showed it to the client and got his approval first. We pulled it out into the sun and it looked amazing, so I told him he should do it anyway . Clients and I don't know if it stained or not. Usually I have a mat that I'll throw down, or when it's done at my apartment, it's all black pavement, so it doesn't matter. His driveway was already pretty stained, so he could care less. The house is actually all college/recent graduates...so none of them care at all. He's the only one that even cares about his car! Which actually reminds me of something I did when I was there. His roommate had an old Camry that never gets washed. I showed him my clay towel and did a section on the hood for a quick demo. I said, "you need to get the whole car done, even if it's just a clay. The ladies love a shiny car." Then he came out with a girl and we mentioned it and she instantly pointed out and said, "OMG, it's shiny, looks so nice!" Hahaha...point proven, clean your cars!! Thanks! Yeah, I don't get the fad either, but to each his own. As long as he likes it, who am I to judge? I'm just there to detail it .
Thanks everyone! I keep getting wash and waxes and cheaper details. I can't wait to get more and more paint correction jobs, as that is my ultimate goal. I currently live in Carmel Mountain, but we're moving in September. Trying to find a HOUSE!
Looks damn good man. I can't wait to move to California to continue and pursue detailing there. Corrective work is always great man. You get to see the transformation .
