I finally had the chance to play with some of the Prima stuff that I recently picked up from Phil at Detailers Domain. I have used some of the Prima stuff in the past and Slick has been a QD that I really liked.

Today I had the chance to give Prima Mystique wash soap a try and I must say I am pretty disappointed with this product. I followed the directions and mixed 2 oz of the soap with about 3 gallons of water. The first thing that I noticed was that the suds were not really all that great.

I decided to add another full oz (up to 3oz now for 3 gallons) and the suds were decent but did not even last through my wash. The soap had decent lubricity but I found that the suds just weren't there. I have used just about every wash soap on the market (DG901, PB SSS, Optimum, Zaino Z7, Griots, DP, Ultima, etc). This was definitely one of the under performing soaps that I have used. I found myself constantly refilling the bucket to bring the suds back up.

Great packaging and nice bottle. Lousy suds :(

Wellll, suds aren't everything! But if they are there they should last. How is the cleaning power? And decent lube, does it feel oily in the bucket?

Eh it was ok. DG 901 or PB SSS felt much slicker.

Luke is right, suds are not everything. While it's nice to see them to know the soap "is there", it has very little actual function in the wash. (some say "it helps carry off dirt" but I'm not entirely convinced of that, look how well ONR does when it runs down the car and it's clear there is dirt trapped in the running water with NO suds involved)

That's why I'm so torn up about foam guns. They're cool to look at but they're not doing much. (that doesn't stop me from having one of course).

I just used DG #901 today, and it has a good bit of suds, especially at half the recommended dosage (I used 2 oz for 4 gallons of water). That's actually a VERY nice soap for OTC.

I need to get around to using my Mystique again, I did a real quick wash with it a couple weeks ago and don't remember much about it other than it cleaned well. (and the "Mojito" like smell)

Next up is Optimum Soap and then PB SS&S.

Well I am a bit fan of suds. I prefer a sudsy soap as opposed to an oily one. Mystique didn't feel all that oily to me in the bucket.

I guess this is why 1Z Perls was a soap that I never became fond of. I am not saying that Mystique is a bad soap I just feel that some of the other soaps that I have used perform alot better. To me DG 901 is far superior and is something I can get OTC.

Also I had to used almost double the amount of product (Mystique) than I did with my other soaps.

I agree on 1Z. I have two of the 8oz squeeze tops with the ounce "measuring cup" on top that I bought from DavidB's store when it first opened circa 2004? I never could get into it.. I need to revisit it now that I'm enjoying ONR washes on occasion.

I also agree that DG 901 is DARN nice. I picked up a half gallon (#903) for like 11 bucks at my local Auto Parts store, that's less than some of 'the big vendors' sell it for. If I buy two of them it's still less on a gallon level than 'the big vendors' sell a gallon for too. Even adding tax into the equation. I just wish it didn't smell like cherries.

But think of the people that'll be out of a job because you didn't buy it (mfg out of job), ship it (shippers out of job) and receive it (you out of work).

Along with the bottle manufacturers, cardboard makers, packing peanut makers, label makers, printer mfg's, ink mfg's. etc.

Sorry to hear, give it a few more tries with different dilutions and mitts, sponges... sometimes little tweaks make a huge difference when testing a wash.

Are you serious? Should we all buy things we do not like simply to keep people in business?

If the entire line was junk products then they deserve to go out of business, this is America... not Disney Land.

Prima makes some outstanding products and of the few i have tried I like the line and other people are very into it. Nobody at that company is losing their job... and when a retailer like DD takes on a new line and markets the hell out of it to 50+ forums you can bet its the real deal.

I agree with Dave, thats taking it one step too far man. If you enjoy the product use it. If you don't then don't buy it. It's the beauty of a capitalist society where supply and demand dictate.

How many times do we have to say on this forum that its all about personal preference. I think about 90% of the people here get that point. Don't criticize someone if they have a differing opinion.

I think you missed the point of my post. Go find supercharged's rant on electronic billing and how he's making jobs by sending spam mail back via post. I'm just trying to help him "create jobs".

do you know how much shampoo I already have? If not, here is a list:
    -Lusso Oro 16oz
    -Pinnacle Bodywork - 1 gal
-DP Xtreme foam formula - 1 gal
-CG Maxi Suds - 1 gal
-CG CItrus Wash Clear - running low
    -CG Glossworkz - 8oz
-Dodo Juice BTBM - 32 oz
-Dodo Juice Sour Power - 8 oz
    -MS Ultra Gloss 1/2 gallon
    -Ultima shampoo 16oz
    -Optimum 1/2 gallon
    -Megs Shampoo Plus 1/2 gallon
    -DG 901-902 1 1/2 gallon

And this is enough shampoo for me for a while. I'm in to try new things, but wanna hear other opinions BEFORE making a purchase, as I like foaming shampoo myself...

thanks, dude...but I think what you are trying to prove is how much you hate me...why??? Do you get bonuses for going "paperless"?
As others said, it's all about personal preference...you wanna be paperless because it is convinient for you - more power to you. But if you wanna be paperless because media is telling you to do so, then you are controlled by a media...
P.S. just let it go, and don't be a hater...I won't tell you how much junk I send back to corporations at their expense...

Just because I gave a note so favorable review of Mystique does not mean I feel the entire line is crap. I also tried Clarity yesterday and found it to be an awesome glass cleaner. Prima Slick is also a fantastic QD.

I had no doubt that when Phil decided to carry Prima that the product line would be solid.

I want to get my hands on some Hydro since I have heard great things about this spray wax.

good review mate, you're being honest and there's nothing wrong with that

i too prefer suds in the bucket and on the paint, makes me feel alot more confident when washing the panels, especially on my easily marred solid black paint

have you tried lusso autobathe pat? ive found the suds to last right through the wash cycle - but i wouldnt use it for wheels, it doesnt havent enough bite and suds dissappeared real fast when i was washing the poorboys b&b off my tyres

now that ive found lusso i dont bother testing out other soaps

+1 on Prima Slick, i carry that with me each wash and have almost finished the bottle - the first product ive actually used in its entirety

Domino...I love Lusso Auto Bathe...It's a must for black cars and is very slick. I agree that it is not a great soap for wheels...

Thanks for the review. You'd have to make a hell of a soap to pull me away from Citrus Wash Clear and Ultra Gloss. I prefer lubricity though, I'm not really sure why. I think having the solution without suds feels slicker in my opinion. Maybe I'm just losing it.

    Pat,
I too used Clarity for the first time the other day and thought it was a sweet cleaner. The thing I can't get past is the fact it smells (to me) precisely like Windex. Hopefully the scent is the only similarity they share.

I went paperless because the endless barrage of crap in my mailbox needs to end. This has cut down on it immensely. I didn't go paperless because the media told me to. But at least I'm not under the delusion that I'm single handedly holding up the US economy by sending back crap in prepaid envelopes.
