I am going to use Powerlock soon and want to know what the proper prep. I want Powerlock to bond well to increase durability/longevity. The paint is good condition, very mild wash induce scratching. I am using powerlock for my winter protection. So do I, 1) wash, clay, Mild polish, wipe down/wash, Powerlock 2) wash, clay, mild polish, wipe down/wash, Kaio/4*UPC, powerlock. Or some combination of the above. What is your process?
its pretty simple stuff to use. Kilo6_one has it down right! although I cant say that I took the time to do an IPA wipedown, but still got great results
Since Powerlock lasts so long on my car, I almost always hit it with a finishing polish to get out any swirling that has shown up since the last application. Follow this by an IPA wipedown. Then apply 2-3 thin coats of Powerlock. Also, make sure you give it as long as possible to cure before buffing it off. I usually wait an hour or so.
yeah, the IPA, im just anal...... if you do your second wash down with dawn you should be good. Also if you do have the time and do want the best results Sikedsyko is right do your self a favor and do a one step light polish. But that is more personal preference; as long as your surface is clean you are good to go. Also once buffed out, it takes up to 48 hours to really cure.....I have left it on my car for over 3 hours before buffing, but once its set up you are pretty much good to go.
Wash, Clay, Wash, Polish, Wipe it down with IPA mixture and apply the Powerlock. IMO clay and IPA will not remove enough dirt from the paint, so use a pre-wax cleaner/AIO on a D/A or a mild polish, to get the best durability from the product. Kind regards, Ebbe
