Powergloss vs. M105 with G110?

Hi guys, just looking for some opinions here. I started detailing this summer, had great results with the M105/205 combos with 6' Sonus Yellow pads for 105 and 5.5' LC white for 205. I used a G110.

I did about 3-4 Honda's with impressive results. Not perfect, but I would say 90% correction.

Then I tried an Altima and an Infiniti G35 with the same combo (both were pearl paints). Using the same polishing technique, the M105 barely removed anything. Correction took much longer and with much less successful results.

That got me thinking to go to another polish. What about Menz powergloss? SIP? What cars have you tried it on so far and what results have you seen compared to the M105?

Or is it time to move to a Flex 3401 and keep the G110 for Hondas only? :)

i do a lot of Infinitis. I have found that 105 with a pfw pad will do everything. I'd like to try a Megs black wool pad which is even more aggressive. 105 is a great product with the right pad. Follow it up with your 205 and you should be golden.

I think M105 is an excellent product. It can used for various vehicles. Pad selection, speed, and pressure (rotary) can yield a variety of results.

I have used it with yellow, orange, and PFW pads. I sold my powergloss because of it.

What are these pfw pads and where can I get some?

All you need is smaller pads. 4" will work much better than a 6" pad on a G110. Keep the M105, and look up the Kevin Brown Method.

I have 4' orange pads. They aren't any better. The main problem is that ccs pads are terrible for the PC/G110, so any flat pad around 6' should be fine since they all keep turning with heavy pressure. And I have been using KBM.

Well you would have to understand the basic principle behind using a small pad, it WILL correct faster. There's a guy who ONLY uses the KBM and a PC/M105/M205 and gets very good results, even on paint that's rock hard. I wouldn't recommend getting PFW, instead the Surbuf pads are what he personally recommends for the PC.

The small pad doesn't spin any faster. The principle behind using it is that it doesn't bog down at high pressure. But neither does my sonus yellow. Not to mention that high pressure on a 4' pad will rip it up after 2 panels from my experience.

EDIT: just read up on the surbuf pads, Im gonna try those out. I'm going for the 6.5', since that size seems to be most recommended.

I haven't tried these but some detailers I know and trust say the new LC Hydo pads are a big step above the rest.

this is after i did it with 203, left side is after power gloss. right side after 203

i do have g110 and use 4" pads for polishing. i like having more control then you get with 5.5 pads and gona be switching to flat pads when its time to replace pads
only problmew ith g110 as with pc7424 is speed. i wouldnt mind trying flex or rotary for that matter

had to use wool pad yesterday with power gloss. didnt had to wetsand this way

^^ That's pretty terrible dude. Get some flat pads. Sonus yellow and M105 on speed 6 is perfect for NHBP. I did 3 NHBP cars, 99% correction in one pass.

Who are you to come in here asking for advice about how to polish and then insult another members polishing job saying it's terrible work? WTF man we're trying to help you, and you're just insulting us saying your right while you can't even correct a medium hardness paint. Fix your attitude or GTFO.

Ugh, might have to buy some 105/205.

How many cars can I correct with 12oz? Already have 32oz of Menz SIP/106ff and I've used 1oz of each :(

I wasn't trying to insult him, I apologize if I offended anyone. He posted pics of the Power gloss with his G110 and that he wasn't pleased with it and I was simply agreeing with him. Again, my apologies.

Actually it helped since now I wont be buying pfw for my g110.

Ok sorry man, I took it the wrong way then. Anyway, the main point I was trying to tell you is that you shouldn't need any new stuff besides maybe the Surbuf pads.

Here's the PC/M105 guru, it's all he uses. One thing I noticed from his write-ups is that he does small areas on harder paint, maybe try that. I included a write-up where he polishes a rock-hard Corvette clear with PC/M105.

Thanks, I'm actually on that forum too, I saw those threads yesterday. Already ordered the 6.5 surbufs, we'll see how it goes. I can always move up to a flex too.

About to order some Surbufs 5.5" pads too. Probably gonna get rid of my CCS pads.

ccs pads SUCK on the PC...the objective in the pads is to suspend product and apply more when in the middle of the polishing round...on the PC, you dont want to introduce more product mid polish round because it will create more marring. Get the 5.5" flat pads with a 5" backing plate from either detailers domain, or detailed image and enjoy the much better/faster reuslts compared to 6.5" pads! I know, I made the switch and havent looked back! I just wish the megs yellow pad came in a 5.5" as that is one of my favorite polishing pads, more so that a white LC pad!
