Hello, I need to buy a power cord to use with my metabo etc. I don`t know mutch about power cords over there, or were to buy the best one. Were should I look for one? Sears? walmart??? Thanks guys and girls imp:
Basicly Power cords are rated at different Gauges. The higher the Gauge the smaller the cord, and the lower the gauge the thicker the cord is. The Thicker the cord is the more power it can transfer without losing its efficiency with length. I don't know what the wattage draw on the metabo is, so I can't help you choose which one would be most suitable for you though. You order them from walmart or sears, but Hardware stores like HomeDepot and Lowes would probably suit you better. I would also sugest an outdoor cord because the cover around it is thicker, so It will last you a longer time.:thumb: Hope this helps you in anyway, I'm not quite sure what information you are looking for.
I got my 12g from Sears. Don't start to know what size you would need in Norway. Do you use 240v there?
Thanks for the information guys. I think the metabo have 1300W. Its 240v in Norway yes, but I have a transfomer. So I will use the cord between the transformer and the machine...
I would use 12 guage then. A little more expensive but the Metabo should never get hot with 12g. You can run longer lengths with 12g. Some will tell you that you can use 14g which is true but could get hot at longer lengths.
You should be fine with the 12 gauge, I use 12 Gauge 100ft cord for my 2000W speakers, and all my DJ equipment. I think it pulls around 10-20 amps, so you should be fine with 12.
 I agree with the 12 gauge, dont do what I did...I went and purchased a 10 gauge cord...it works but boy is that sucker heavy on your shoulder hahahahahaha...but to be hoenst 10 gauge is over kill, I still use it once in a wile but I like the 12 gauge oh and yes I agree with getting one that is meant to be used outdoors as it will have better protection :thumb: Hey in Norway do you guys have Walmarts? I don't know I'm just asking wait let me guess you call them Walmarts too hahahahahahahaha :lol2: oh and I'm only making fun of my own question to disrespect intended my friend. But seriously what stores do you have localy pirex? Hardware stores? You must have some hard ware stores localy..what are they called? I mean name, what's there name? Are they tool related names? sorry for all the questions jut curious now
Yeah, I think the 12 gauge will be the right one for me, and outdoor walmarts? No way No walmart, home depot, sears, lowes etc.. :lol2: Lets see, we have Byggmakker, Jernia, coop bygg, maxbo ++ All of them is hard ware and building stores :woot::woot: But I need a US cord, so need to buy it from there :applause2:

pirex I agree with togwt on this one and spend the money and get a cord with a GFI. GFI's are the safest way to handle electricity when using an extension cord especially in areas that may be wet. If you don't already have a GFI outlet to plug it into then get a cord with one and 12 gauge like everyone has said is the way to go.
