OK guys. Where's the best deal? Or do you know someone that will work out a deal? I'm in Canada... Want PC 7424xp Pads... Suggestions? Thinking Lake Country CSS but dont know how big... Plates? Weigts? What all do I need to have this unit productive? Would like to do a one stop shop. Any responses greatly appreciated as always! Chhers!
Get the PC7424XP and stick with the stock backing plate. To get the most out of it, stick with 5.5 inch and 4inch(for the tight spots) pads. You could also get the 3.75 inch backing plate for the 4inch pads. For pads, the most versatile pads I have used to this day have been LC orange and white pads. You could pick up a black or blue for LSP application if you dont do your LSPs by hand. Orange can be used with anything from heavy compounds to even medium polishes and some lighter polishes for 1step jobs and the whites can also be used with compounds all the way down to finishing polishes. I like using whites with glazes as well. LC makes extremely consistent pads. I really love LC orange. Ask Chris or Ken, whomever you choose. Very good guys and can recommend for sure:thumb:
Ken from AutoWerkes has a pc kit Autowerkes Exclusive :: Porter Cable Complete Polishing Kit :: 2008 :: Shop
It is cheaper to buy it at Autogeek.net Eshine sells the Porter Cable 7424XP for $165.99. Free shipping. After taxes, it is $187.57 CAD. Autogeek sells it for $119.99 USD. $27.50 shipping. So 147.49 USD or 153.55 CAD. Duty is 13% tax (Ontario) + $5 brokerage fee. Total $178.51 CAD.
Really? You would not buy from a forum sponsor over a difference of nine bucks? tisk, tisk... I bet Ken would match the price.
If you apply the eshine DB discount it would be $178.19 to your door, it would arrive sooner and you would support a DB sponser. Win ... Win.
I didn't know about any eShine discount; I found this post (http://www.detailingbliss.com/forum/e-shine/1331-eshine-discounts-db-members.htm). It says the discount (-5% on orders over $150) doesn't apply to polishers. Autogeek also has a discount (-10% coupon code applied on checkout) but it doesn't apply to polishers either.
My calculation was wrong. Duty is only 5% (GST) in Ontario. BUT when you buy something in foreign currency with a credit card, the credit card company charges you 2.5% the item + shipping. Bloody hidden fee!
If you're still in the market for a PC let me know, I'm sure we could work something out. I've been itching to get myself a Flex or something. Got a BP, pads, and what not that would be included. Think I even have the original packaging somewhere.
Eshine's price on the unit is the best price in Canada, Cdn tire sells it for $229.00, I believe. And the free shipping is an added bonus. You might as well add a backing plate or two to the order along with the pads of your choice to save on the shipping on these smaller items.
