Does anyone know what is takes to make the PC a wet sander? And where to buy the stuff at? I seen Clark useing it as one.
theres a 3m system thats velcro, i think the pads are called trizact? you would need the bp and the sanding pads. heres the bp wet sanding discs
So if I buy the sanding pads, can I use my current BP on my PC? And sanding pad itself, do I just stick the sand paper onto to pad, then straight onto a backing plate? -Thanks Edit: Wow...I have no only found it sold in bulk...50 and 100 for $100 plus. Does anyone know where it sells individually? Edit: I think I found it, but I don't exactly what to get: http://autobodystore.net/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=M3
I have the 3M Trizac system for my pc and it does work well. There are advantages to getting an actual RO Sander because it has a shorter throw but I'm no expert on these things so maybe someone else can chime in here.
So how does it work exactly? Can I use my existing hook and loop backing plate? Then get the interface pad? Then stick the sand paper pad onto the interface pad? BP: 6" Hook & Loop Pad can be used with Finishing Film: Autobody Store Interface Pad: Interface Pad for use with Finishing Film (Sponge): Autobody Store Grit Disk: 3M Trizact Hookit II 3000 Grit Disks: Autobody Store If you could explain how it works, that would be great. Thanks
I'm sure about using the PC as a sander...I'm sure it's capable of working as others have used it....but I'll be using my RO sander as it's meant to be used....I'll be putting the RO to good use tomorrow and I'll be picking up the 3M Trizac disks as well. Look forward to putting these tools to good use :thumb: But I'm curious about the PC being used as a sander. I know others use it as a sander but I wonder if it leaves pigtails behind? Any who I'm no help, I got more questions then answers :sorry:
The pc is used as a wood sander. My dad has one for over 20 years that he uses in his wood shop. Just like Menzerna FPII is in alot of woodworking suppliers as a wood polish.
Yes it does leave pigtails as the throw on a PC is a lot larger than an actual RO sander. I believe its 5/32 instead of 3/32 on a sander. Makes a big difference apparently.
Interesting, I used my RO sander today and it worked like a champ..made quick work of some what deep scratches..what a time saver :worship: Now I need to get more sanding discs.
I've used my PC as a sander; works fairly well. It will leave pigtails; however, they haven't been overly difficult to remove in my experience. Here is a link to the Mirka Abralon abrasive discs. These have an interface pad attached to each disc so any hook and loop backing plate can be used. Mirka:Abralon - 8A Series In order to use 3M's Trizact abrasives you must use one of their hook and loop interface pads. 3Mâ„¢ Hookitâ„¢ II Soft Interface Disc Pad, 05274, 6 in 1/ea - 3M Hook-It II Pads and Accessories These interface pads can be purchased in various sizes. Hope this helps.
