I've driven several Porsches (996 and up) but this was the first air-cooled Porsche that I have experienced. The very generous owner allowed me to pick up and drop off myself which gave me a chance to bask in the glory of this particular 993 C4S. I was told it was an ex-track car but if you look at it, drove it, and heard it, you would think differently. Amazing car to drive and incredible feel to it. Very, very engaged driving experience. It was awesome. Anyway, I got a call about this car referred from another client and went to look at it that evening. It just needed to be refined and knock off the moderate to severe (in places) swirls and dullness. My first question and thought was that it was original single stage paint but luckily it had been repainted a few years back. It was still a challenge as several body panels were different material and reacted differently to different pad and polish combinations. I did the best I could with keeping the integrity of the paint job in mind and remembering that this car is already a classic and values are going up. But like the owner told me when I returned it, it is definitely a "driver". Foam wash Clay bar Masked Griot's 6" DA with green and yellow Uber Foam Pads Menzerna SF4000 / FG400 Merzerna Powerlock Upon arrival... These wheels would reveal an amazing flake once clean! No clay pictures, it was spotless until the back end of course. Masked and ready for inspection before beginning the hard work... Looks much better after a wash! I liked this shot so why not post it? Beautiful mid 90's lines! Getting to work! This color was hard to catch defects in the light sometime but I tried my best (and wasted a lot of time, lol). Continuing on the hood... Over to the classic Porsche fenders... Trying to improve the roof area... Before - wing After - wing Lots of tape on this one! Working the other fender... Moving on down... These big body lines definitely present a challenge sometimes! Wing underside - before Wing underside - after More fat rear action! Above bumper - before Above bumper - after Had to snap a few pics as I was worried that I would not have any sunlight when I finished the next day. Looking very bright though with what little sun I caught on it! Painted area underneath tail cleaned up! Sealant on and put away for the night! Back up bright and early again. Finishing up the interior. Love the old school feel of it and the VDO gauges! I think a nice pedal set makes a huge difference aesthetically speaking. Sealant off...No rush pulling it outside as it's cloudy The next guest has been picked up and is patiently waiting for its spot...and my energy level to rise! And outside finally before the drive back to its home! Yes, those are Pilot Sport Cups. And yes, they grip like nobody's business on this car! License plate sealed and back on before the drive of course. As always, thanks for looking. Really, really had fun with this one. The reaction from owners is a big part of why I enjoy this so much.
