Pontiac GXP Correction

  1. Hi all! It's been quite a while since I've posted anything...much less a detail. I had a good friend of mine drive over from Orlando this weekend so I could work on his car. He is currently driving a 2006 Pontiac GXP. He keeps it in great shape; has it washed regularly and even enters it in car shows. After washing and claying, we decided that a 1 step correction would do the trick to clean up 95% of the defects with the other 5% being deeper scratches that we wouldn't chase out at this time. The combo of choice was Menzerna SIP coupled with a white CCS pad on a Dewalt rotary. This combo allowed for the correction desired as well as finishing down LSP ready. Here are a few before shots:

We've been getting a lot of rain this past week here in sunny Florida...so it doesn't surprise me things were as dirty as they were...just look at these wheels:

To tackle this, I brought out Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner. This stuff is just amazing. Look at it work!

So because this car is silver and in such great shape to begin with, it was near impossible to capture any of the defects; so fast forward after about 12 hours of polishing and a coat of Autoglym HD and this is what we have:

Here are some reflection shots from inside the garage: I did take sun shots, but because of the color of the car mixed with the sun...the pictures were just washed out :(. Hopefully the reflection shots make up for it.

Looks good. Silver is one hard color to photograph defects and the correction.
