how does everyone polish side mirrors, the little pillars or the strip thats on the side of the car between the top and bottom of doors?? should i do it by hand or use 4" pads?
by hand is good to do or i use a real big pad and get the edge in there but you have to know what you doing or you will take off a mirror or f- it up .
Tape everything off that the pad could come into contact with that you DON'T want polished, and use a 4" pad. If its a newer car with no widow trim and black pillar coverings between the front and rear door glass, I just do what razr said, and go over it with whatever pad I'm polishing with at around 1000 - 1200 rpm.
I forgot to mention taping sorry i'm so use to doing it automatically lol remember be safe you can always go over it again but once you mess it up there is no going back.
I use 4 inch egde pads with my Makita...For the side mirrors I use the top of the 8 edge pad to polish under the side view mirrors. It does a real nice job. Don't forget that the egde pads are two sided...:thumb:
what about that tiny strip thats on the side of some cars thats supposed to protect against door dings?? do you guys polish that and how? same method...4" pads?
I usually tape them off, but it depends. I've seen some strips being the same colour as the rest of the vehicle wile others are crome(ish) when they are crome(ish) I tape them off, when they are the same colour of the vehicle I'll polish them just like the rest of the vehicle...just me though oh and yes 4inch pads work great :thumb:
