Im looking for a pure jeweling product to be used with a very fine finishing pad. I have narrowed it down to the Micro polish PO87 or the PO85rd. I see they both have a gloss rating of 5, but the micro polish 87mc has less cut than 85rd. Will the 87mc leave a finer, higher gloss finish or is it the same for both products? If the final result after jewling is the exact same I will go with 85rd because it will be able to better clean up after correction work with the bit of extra cutting ability. I will use this product strictly for jeweling purposes with a very fine finishing pad.

    Thanks

I have used both and I really cannot tell a difference. I believe the 85RD is marketed for the OEM hard clearcoats which is probably why it has a 1.5 cut vs the 87MC which is for repair/aged coatings. I used both with a PC and LC blue finishing pad. Hope this helps.

Musc said it best, they both achieve the desired affect, i personally like the Micro Polish for older finishes, and if needed, the PO85rd for the harder clears.

As the finish they produce is close, I would opt for 85RD as it can be used on old and new paint types whereas the 87MC can not. Keep it simple.

Agreed. 87 can be used on the newer harder clears, but will not give you the results that 85 will.

If you don't mind spending the money, I would. They both have their place.

Eh, placed the order for just 85rd, 95% of the cars I work on have newer paints anyways so I would be more willing to grab for the 85rd for finishing. If I find I need something to better finish down older paints I will certainly pick up the 87mc.

Thanks for all you help guys...btw I got some of the new Kompressor pads as well so I will let you know how those work out:thumb:

I've encountered black Hondas where RE5 was too harsh and left holograms. In those cases, the 87MC would have been a godsend...

PO87MF aka MC is a very wet consistency dark brown product that provides a clarity and wetness by hand that is extraordinary. 85RD and 106FF are too thick and pastey for hand use and not as wet
On soft paints, 87MF hands down as the abrasives are rounded, not sharply faced

However for other paints, 85RD is the king
If you had to recommend a light abrasive hand polish for a beginner mate to use, then 87MF wins for ease of use, no dust and insane wetness and clarity.
