I need ur help with a list of car shampoo's that r ph balanced that will not strip wax and sealants. Looking for ones that r available locally in the US. Want to give my customers a list to choose from so that they can wash their car on their own if they like and still have protection left behind
In other words over the counter? I can't say there are many mild AND non-gloss enhancing/polymer containing soaps that are OTC.
Megs gold class and DG901 are top notch soaps that are easily available OTC. Personally my favorite is DJ BTMB.
I use the recommended dose of 1oz/gal. How did you get the feeling that its a strong soap? It is a very mild shampoo with good lubricity.
I just read online that the meguiars "nxt generation car soap" is Ph balanced and willbnot compromise the wax
Keep in mind guys that pH completely neutral things sometimes have quite a hard time with traffic film. A pH just just 8 which to me application wise is darn close to neutral will have a better time with oily, grease, dirty stuff - hence why many shampoos are just off that reading of 7 on the pH scale. Food for thought.
Best wash for a well sealed, well maintained car is Luso then Ultima Paint Guard Wash then P21S Body work Shampoo. THese are close but I really like the smell of the Luso and re-stocked my stock. I use Poorboys Super Slick and Suds as inexpensive foam washes to loosen up the dirst when the cars are trashed. I don't think any of the ones I listed with damage LSP to any great extent although the Luso is probaboy the mildest of the group based on my obervations on my own vehicles.
CG MS II is really strong. It leads me to believe it broke down my LSP prematurely. But indeed, it is cheap; and it's great for those with hard water.
Really? I have never experienced that. I wonder what happened. I think Optimum is a good all around choice. Available at many places, works fine even at 0.5 oz per gallon, foams nicely even in a foam gun, smells great, and mid-range cost per wash.
I'll second that. I used it as a maintenance wash once on my car, and it stripped my 2 coats of Crystal Rock. I'm only going to use it as an aggressive wash soap now, if I ever use it again. If anyone would like to try a sample, feel free to PM me.
I don't understand why people don't wash with ZEP citrus instead of CG MS II, I mean you want to strip LSP use ZEP, it degreases great, foams great and $9/gallon it's as cheap as water. Unless someone can find me a reason that actually makes a difference. Like the time I heard it dulls trim.
Just goes to show you the difference in prep, sealant/wax with environment, water hardness or softness, and dilutions can go opposite of the spectrum ends. Some guys love MS 2 as maintenance wash, other guys are now saying its harsh. Very interesting nonetheless
