I'm a little short on words due to time. That probably won't bother most people a bit. :) Will post some details of the adventure in a later reply maybe.

I was running out of time in the day so no pictures were after the sanding process. I sanded and ground a lot of rust off. Then I used 3 cans of Brake Cleaner and finally taped everything off.

Rotors painted with 3 coats of Black Grill Spray Paint (withstands 1200 deg F.)

    Now it's getting dark

    Removed tape around calipers

Calipers painted with 3 coats of "G2" (2 part) epoxy (900 deg. F)
Plastic being removed during some of these pictures.
Halogen lighting makes calipers look orange but a couple of the very last pictures show the true color the next morning without that lighting.

G2 Caliper paint system. Good product for quick DIY. Durability of maybe 3-4 years on average from past experiences and from others.

    looks nice!
doesnt the brakes grind off the paint on the rotors? or the rotors being slightly black is just my imagination lol

Which is why it doesn't matter if you spray 'em of get splatter on 'em, it'll be gone after a few uses of the brakes. I know a guy that doesn't mask at all, just blasts caliper, rotor and all. Actually looks good and the business surface of the rotor is clean and shiney again after a few uses.

Looks great, you have me wanting to go out and do the same thing to my GTI...the calipers are factory painted red but the clear coat on the front ones appears to be failing.

nice job. very thorough! ive been painting my rotor hub silver. i personally like how it looks over black.
you should try sanding down the flat surfaces of the caliper next time around. it looks more like a monoblock. can easily spot cheaper caliper systems by the rough finish they have. well and of course the smaller size.

Until the last picture, I kept thinking to myself "those don't look like the normal Pontiac Solstice wheels"..... :facepaml:

Nice job. I used to do that to all my cars, I just stick with black gold or silver now. Nice match for a red car though! :thumb:

    Thanks Guys!!!

    Thanks buddy,
Bought from Ebay for less than 40$. Comes with a brush, a can of brake cleaner, the paint, and the hardener. Buy yourself 2 extra cans of brake cleaner and also a set of brushes from Walmart for 5$. I should have taken a picture but it was a very long day... The brush that comes with the kit fails.

Thanks Tadman, I appreciate the kind words! I told Skybaby what you said as well... She is still blushing. You know how she loves compliments  :campfire:

The brakes will take the paint off the rotors but theres no point in gumming them up temporarily or starting a little fire with too much paint gunk. I taped them off but left about an 1/8" lip of paint get on so the brakes would create a perfect line when I hit them the first few times.

Very nice Corey! I expected nothing less in your writeup, I still follow your reviews on AG and am always impressed. Now you need to look into getting rid of that 4x4 ride height!
