This truck was screwed up! It was trapped at the owner’s brand new house while 3 houses (including theirs) were getting painted. Because they were out of town, the painters weren’t smart enough to cover their truck. By the time the owner noticed the overspray and painter’s insurance company acknowledged liability, this Latex paint ended being embedded on this truck for almost 9 months!! During this delay the owner’s were so disgusted that they barely even bothered washing it. Befores: There were even scattered areas where big blobs of paint were splattered: I tried everything and although Auto Magic Blue Clay Magic was taking it off, it was taking forever. Way too long! Here’s the 50/50’s after using Blue CM with Lake Country’s Clay Holder via DA buffer: I tried solvents, razor blades, degreasers, and the notorious Hi Tech Magna Sponge and the best and quickest method by far was Micro Surface Micro Mesh sandpaper. I used various grits with AM Body Shine lube and it instantly removed the overspray with only minimal marring. Quick Process: I 1st power/hand-washed all the loose topical dirt off the vehicle. Then, with the recommendation of Ron Ketchum @ Auto Int. I soaked the entire vehicle down with heavy wet towels saturated with paint safe APC for several hours. This loosened up the overspray and made my job removing it even less difficult. Here’s the marring created from the sandpaper (overspray removed): I sanded the bumper with Micro Mesh 3200 because of the heavy splatter mixed in with scratches: I used razor blades on the glass: Afters:
Wow great save on this one...but come on you have to admit all those holograms and swirls were impressive  Well at least I thought so  By the way what did you use to polish the vehicle? Just curious that's all.
Gj! must have been tiring and must have required tons of patience. How many hours did you end up putting in?
Fantastic job. Thats a s**tload of overspray. I would recommend 000 or 0000 on the glass as razor blades can actually scratch it if the blade is flat against it. How many hours to sand it all off?
Thanks Carlos! This was basically an overspray job so I didn't focus a whole lot on paint correction. I used a combo of M105 via KB Rotary/Orange LC and then Menzerna Power Finish via /LC White/DA. Very nice paint to work with. Not too bad. Started Saturday morning & finished Sunday afternoon Razor Blades / 4000 Sandpaper / Steel Wool will all do the trick if you're careful. Thanks! Thanks Dana. :thumb:
The micro mesh paper worked really good, I have to get some of it (been saying this to myself for over a month) shop exspenses never seam to let up. Great correction!!!.
