I just finished compounding my audi with FG400 with MF cutting disc and I want to follow it up with Sonax Paste and Nano Polish before applying the 22PLE. I was wondering which pads everyone recommended to use with the sonax products using the rupes 21. I wasnt sure if the Hydro Tech pads or the Flat pads (if so which ones) would work best with the rupes Thanks
I've used the tangerine and crimson LC without any issues. The last car I did I compared the tangerine LC to the yellow Rupes pad with SPF and I didn't see a difference in finishing. The LC pads may have a hair more vibration than the Rupes pads, but nothing I really noticed or was concerned over. That being said the Rupes pads are pretty nice.
Do you think the Tangerine with Sonax Paste followed by LC White Pad with Sonax Nano Polish would be a good combo?
That's really dependent upon the paint, it's condition, and what you are trying to achieve. Don't limit yourself to just one combo as all paints will react differently. I also only have Sonax Perfect Finish at this time and I haven't tried the others yet...SPF can do some pretty good correction though with a polishing pad, while still finishing very well. If I'm doing heavier correction I'll usually start with MF pads and follow that with a finishing polishing and either a polishing or finishing pad...I'll typically use polishing pads for harder paint and finishing for softer paint, but your test spot will be the deciding factor. It is dolphin grey metallic, I compounded with FG 400 with a MF cutting today.... I only have them in the 5.5, what would be comparable in Lake Country Pads? I wanted to use the Sonax Paste followed by Nano Polish with the Rupes 21. Thanks for the help.
