I love using TAW for prepping my cars for a full detail...however, that seems to be only opportunity I get to use it. I have a bunch of it, so I wanted to start incorporating it into my maintenance washes. I wouldn't mind using it as a pre-soak on the lower rockers or on the front of the car to help remove bugs during my maintenance washes; however, my main concern is that it will strip the LSP. I have pretty much been using ONR QD strength for this as I am comfortable that it will not strip LSP. I have searched and I haven't found any good dilutions charts for TAW. Does anyone have any charts or ratios that they have used with success without removing the LSP? Thanks!
Hmm, I never diluted my first jug of TAW and always thought of diluting it but never got to it. I'd think that if you're ever using something that will make quick work of tar, bugs, sap, etc., you'd be applying a new layer of LSP. Otherwise, all you'd need is a good maintenance wash if the vehicle is well-protected or so I assume. I don't know, it's something to think about.
That's always been my concern about any bug/tar remover. Unfortunately, some of the back roads I travel are terrible for bugs! I try not to leave them on there long, but usually it has to wait till the end of the week when I can do my maintenance wash. I actually use ONR in QD strength as a bug remover. It's not superpowerful, but it actually works quite well if your vehicle is well maintained. I have never had an issue with LSP removal with it (the areas seem to maintain beading consistent with surrounding non treated areas). As far as diluting TAW, a few years ago I used to mix it 50/50 with Distilled water because the vendor I was using at the time told me to never put it on the paint undiluted :crasy: I don't recall getting great results with it at that strength.
True that. I just use Megs APC 10:1 on the paint for this...not sure it it removes carnauba wax, because I always have a coat of sealant backing it up.
