Optimum X meets MB 500SL

I won 2 oz. of the Optimum X product in a drawing on their forum. This stuff is truly a breakthrough compared to conventional products. I am not permitted to discuss certain aspects of the product until it's officially marketed, but I WILL buy it! They tell me they have it on a Masarati that still has tight beads after 3 years and this ain't no garage queen. I've only had it on my Altima for a couple weeks, but it makes washing a breeze. Literally all you have to do is spray it off. I run some shampoo over it anyway, but it seems to not allows contaminants to bond. Bugs take only minor pressure and bird bombs come off with only pressureized water.

Well, after trying out my sample on my own car (and I love it, I might add). I decided to do a customer's. I didn't charge extra because I was just getting my process down and wanted to see what the customer said before I even mentioned the product I had used. Without a word from me she said: "It looke better than it did new, it's a different color." This stuff took the paint from a factory red to an eye popping red much deeper and reflective than before. The car is a 1996 with only 11k miles so it was already in great shape. All I did was wash and apply product X in addition to cleaning and dressing the engine bay, tires and wells.

    Enjoy!

Very nice work on the SL, still a fav of mine body style wise.

In regards to Optimum X we've been using it on wheels a lot lately and it's still doing well on a daily driven Porsche after 5 weeks. It's on the 2 front wheels but not on the rear and when hit with the pressure washer you can surely see the difference. Brake dust still collects but it rinses off much easier with less effort.

This has helped determine that it can stand up to a great deal of heat so we are, so far, pleased with the results on wheels.

The fun comes when you get to rinse it down and then hit it with a leaf blower :)

I'll try that soon, I'm having to ration out what I have left, hehe

I do but I didn't take before readings, why?

I'm not familiar with that product, but I highly doubt it. Product X is only what they are calling it till the name is revealed.

Dust, from what I read this is nothing like BC's Product X.

Just wondering if there was any truth to its possibility of possibly adding to the clear. (that is probably worded wrong..I know it doesn't add clear..but it adds thickness to it)

Stay off my goddamn threads, I'm sick of your smartass comments. It ain't hype if I actually tried it and liked it and I don't work for Optimum.

I don't think I've ever commented on another one of your threads except maybe a click and brag on Autopia? I'm not talking about your hype. I'm talking about all the Hype surrounding O-X, which originally supposed to be like 300 an application or something loony and now it's down to 90 (I think).. and it's been 'a work in progress for 8 billion centuries and it was tested on fossilized dinosaurs dipped in tar pits and removed after a year' and "ZOMG THEY HAD NO TAR ON THEM!"

Let me give some facts here so as to dispel drivel such as this. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but at least have a form of intelligence in that opinion.

It's been in testing for 3 years, well maybe a bit more.

It was originally only going to be for pros only and on top of the detailers price for paint correction he or she could upsell this coating for another $200 to $300. This price would of course depend on what that particular detailers market would allow. People seem to think that's wrong yet it's done everyday on all types of items.

The application process is now very simple so it was suggested that pros and non-pros could now purchase the Optimum X. The "$90.00" is a suggested ball park figure, not set in concrete.

No animals or dinosaurs were used nor harmed in the beta testing of this product.

Lastly, does it not seem the people whining the most about the "hype" of any said product are the ones spreading or flaming the fires of that hype. Therefore they have become illogical morons.

You came off very abrasive today and we had a little problem back on the "spelling mistakes" thread you started. I thought we'd come to an understanding, yet here we are again. They have responded to the negative feedback and have dramatically improved the application method so the price may come down again. I don't know if you know David, but he wants a good product more than he wants a bottom line. I do think it's unfortunate that someone started talking about the product so long ago that it probably sounds like hype, but it's soon to be released now and I've actually used it, so I can honestly say that it's very impressive. I will post beading pics after a few washes and let everyone know about the durability. Just in the 2-3 weeks that it's been on my Altima I've been most impressed with the fact that nothing sticks to it. Just a rinse off gets almost everything. Tight round beads are relentless. So call it what you want, but you'll love it if you try it from what I've seen so far. I would appreciate it if you'd keep negs to PM's in the future on my threads.

Thanks Tonya! I always look forward to your seal of approval! You have a very good attention to detail, like catching the keys in the door of the Maxima, LOL.

I will check on the next vehicle I apply it too, good idea!

Thank you very much! It looked even better in person.

Sorry Carlos, no disrespect toward DB intended.

Thanks. I post durability and beading shots as time progresses.

Not that I'm aware of, but they've decided on a name and are going through the legalities, so it shouldn't be too long. Stay tuned!

    How easy/hard was the application??

Well whew. I'm glad you came here to quench the fire there. Having a vested interest in the product and all.

    :bla2:

In short I'm tired of seeing new stuff pop up and it be 'all the rage' for about 3 months and then it just disappears off into the wild blue yonder. I could probably make a bewildering long list of car care products that have come and gone from the limelight after a select group of people (shills) spent way too much time on boards not unlike bliss or autopia trying to get everyone to buy it up and blindly call it the best thing since sliced bread.
