Optimum Poli-seal + Victoria Concours Red Q's

So after my somewhat unsuccessful polish attempt with the Optimum Compound and Polish using the PC with LC orange pad, I've used the Optimum Poli-seal using the PC with LC white pad. I have to say the Poli-seal disappears quite quickly. It "disappeared" even during the initial spreading phase using the PC on speed 3. Is it supposed to be like this? I continued to do several passes using the PC on speed 6 for the section I was working on.

As for the Victoria Concours Red... I love that smell. And it was the first time I've used it. And it was also the first time I applied a wax using my bare hands. I was a bit afraid that I would scratch the panels with my rough hands. The experience was interesting. Instructions said to remove it before it dries completely. After wiping / buffing off using cookie monster MF towels, there is no need to use a machine buffer (with buffing pad) afterwards, is there?

 

Can't really coment on the Optimum Poli-Seal as I've never used it

But for Victoria Concours, once you remove/buff the wax off with the Cookie Monster there is no need to go over with a buffer, in fact once you've wiped Concours off you should be done nothing else to do, nothing but admire the finish Victoria Concours leaves behind.

So what did you think of the hand application?

 

I kind of like the hand application... I don't think I have ever touched the hood of my car with my bare hands that much before this. I feel more connected to the car too. Ha ha. But the sad thing is, I have to sell this. Three small cars between me and my wife just don't jive too well. Plus, we're looking to get something a bit bigger. Something that I can put my dog crates in the back and yet still have the rear seats in place. Something like the current model Rav4.

So far, I have only done the hood of my Prelude, and the hood and roof of my wife's Echo hatch. The finish on both definitely looks very nice. Could have been even nicer if my attempt to use the Optimum Compound and Polish was more successful. For the past couple of days, the rain was beading very nicely on Echo which is parked outside. I should post a pic or two later.

 

Yes PS is almost invisible, if you feel no drag it's still there and if you look closely you'll see a 2-3 inch trail off the back of the pad that flashes off quickly. This lack of visual feedback takes a little getting used to but after you do you will like how easily any residue can be removed with light-no pressure. Many ppl apply OCW as they remove PS to save a step with fantastic results. After your initial passes, I'd run at least one at speed 3 to burnish PS to a high gloss. I'd also advise enough time for PS to cure prior to the Vic's. I will make bonding stronger from my experience. An hour is probably ok, but 6-12 would be ideal.

Wow the reflections off that Prelude is really nice. Your hood looks like a painting on a canvas lol
