It doesn't fend off brake dust enough and eventually it created like a brake dust bleeding effect which sonax FE could not remove even with the pressure washer. I had to scrub twice with AG CWC afterwards and also wipe it clean/dry after to get all the spots off. It seems as if the brake dust sunk into the coating or something like that. I'd post a pic to illustrate the zomgness but sadly i didnt take any pictures of during process of how hard it was to clean it. i now have SV Autobahn on instead and we'll see how well that fares compared to Bilthamber Autobalm.
kyoshiro, sorry to hear about that. i hope that wasn't based on a recommendation i made on another thread. Anyway, i'm glad you were able to correct the problem, although it sounds like it was a huge pia.
Whenever I'm too lazy to do two coats of a regular wheel sealant (which I usually like to do every week-end), I'll just do two applications of Opti-Seal. As you said, it doesn't seem to reduce brake dust or make it easier to clean. Still it holds up just fine and gives the wheels a decent gloss. I just applied Zaino Z-CS 2x and I'm curious to see how it compares. I also have 2x Opti-Seal on my father's car and I'm curious to see how it does.
yeah it glosses the rim fine, but i think the culprit is probably the german iron brakedust involved that like eats into it and making like spots of brake dust bleeding. it still looks fine on my mazda
Yeah, I am curious to see what you are talking about when I go to wash my father's car which has the german iron brake dust.
i should of taken a picture grrr oh wait... i have something from recent that illustrates my point... uploading... here:
if you want something really durable, then consider nano coating...all those waxes/sealants have very limited durability on wheels, especially in your climate...
well you see I like to test out products thus i change my combination every so often and then report back my findings. =p
Personally I have had good results with Collinite Metal Wax on my Audi wheels and it has held up even better on my chrome ford wheels.
I have used Ultima Piant Guard Plus on my wheels with good results. it is an easy WOWA sealant. I wash wheels with regular shampoo until that are really bad and P21S gel removes it all rather easliy.
i layered opti-seal 3 times over 3 days on the inside of my wheels felt super slick, ill see how it holds up now i didnt have the nerve to layer the polished/clear coated lips, there i used bf ms - and from this thread it was a good idea lol
I just wanted to update by saying that Z-CS actually worked really well on the rims. It did nothing to reduce brake dust and road grime, but yesterday I took a gentle swipe with my finger and it came totally clean. The water beading on the wheels was incredible as well. It was incredibly easy to wash off the dirt so after stripping it all off due to using P21S Gel, I applied two coats of PB Wheel Sealant last night for additional shine, and then topped that off today with 2x Z-CS. Looks like I am probably going to keep Z-CS on my shelf. Gonna find out how Opti-Seal held up on my dad's Mercedes tomorrow when I go to wash it up.
