What do you all use? Right now I'm using shag rags. but I stumbled across these at CG: Auto Detailing Wool Car Wash Pad Value Pack Looks like a good fit for ONR usage...
I use a chenille mitt. I find the big thick pads hold too much water and I end up going through the bucket of onr in no time.
I've tried it with a sponge. Both proline and uber varieties. I don't like it at all. It doesn't have anything to lift the dirt away from the surface. At least, I didn't have any luck with it.
Try any fluffy mf and you should be ok. Just make sure you rinse them good and swap them often. I used 3-4 mfs per wash.
That's what I've been using. Shag Rags from Justin. I like them, just wondering if those wash pads would make it even safer.
What I really liked about the sponge was how easily it releases the dirt into the rinse bucket. What I didn't like was it seemed there was still contamination left on the paint surface, suspended and ready to be removed.
To me it looks like a sheepskin mitt, but no place to insert your hand. Just a pad, so to speak. That's how I use sheepskin mitts anyways.
I use a Griots MF wash pad, the MF pads/mitt that looks like dread locks. Was looking at the SV poodle (or w/e they call it) pad but expensive to get.
I have used several. Next time, I am going to try a dreadlock style that inserted a wash sponge so it works better in the hand since I never inserted my hand in the mitt anyway.
I use ShagRags and I've been doing it a little different lately with great results! I use ONR in a NOMAD washer. Don't bother rinsing the media, just switch to a new one when both sides are dirty. Only use .5 gallon on a Nissan Altima including rinsing the wheels. The NOMAD can spray a very fine mist or a stream (fully adjustable). I just wet a panel (hose in one hand), wash with dampened mitt till clean (add more ONR if needed), then dry as usual. Sure I use more towels, but I have very thick pile shagrags and only use about 3-4 per car. Another bonus is that I can spray regular wheel cleaner on the rims with this technique because I can rinse. I have never marred with ONR the old way, but I think there is less chance this way because all the solution that hits the car is fresh. The nomad is self contained. You do not need a hose, it consists of a tank (3.5 gallons), an internal pump (provides about 40-60 psi), a power cord (lighter plug 12v), and a kink free hose (20ft with sprayer). I end up with less on the garage floor with this method and I use my jump start power pack to run it instead of pluging it into the car or the wall. I have stored the ONR in it when not in use with no noticeable decline in performance to the Nomad or the wash solution. To start remove the cap, attach the hose (without the sprayer) and aim into the tank, run for 20 sec to purge aur from the line, attach the sprayer and go to work.
