I finally got a chance to try out my ONR today, and I was pretty impressed on how slick and clean it left the paint for a rinseless wash. My only problem with it was the wash median I was using, a microfiber bone sponge, became extremely dirty. How do you guys deal with this?
That's the ONR hard at work. It pulls the contamination away from the paint, and sticks to the media. Happens to me all the time. I got a nice metal industrial 3 gallon sprayer from someone (thanks again) and filled that with ONR (at wash dilution) for a presoak. That worked like a CHARM to get alot or the dirt off before I started. The media and solution both stayed a heck of a lot cleaner than without doing the presoak.
That is supposed to happen, part of the encapsulation process. You an wash it in the washer or in any detergent or APC to clean it back up. I personally recommend using more than one wash mitt during and ONR wash. One per side, or even one per quarter if it's really grimy.
Yep, after you get the ONR out of the sponge, it rinses clean. I have a smaller 3 gallon bucket in a laundry tub to hand wash my wash media/brushes after ONR washes.
Good to hear you found something to use that for. How's the quality for you? I think it's pretty top of the line. Maybe in the future I can do something like purchase a sprayer at a Home Depot near me and you can pick it up at one near you. I'll be picking up some grout sponges soon too for free. Ah company cards, gotta love it.
I really like it! A lot better than the plastic one I've been using for Meg's super degreaser. I'm sure this one will last a lot longer than the old one
I agree about having more than one wash media handy if it gets especially dirty. A mf bone sponge will get dirty very quickly since you do not have a lot of microfiber to absorb it. That is why I use those dreadlock style chennile wash mitts. There is a lot more microfiber to absorb the dirt ladened ONR compared to a sponge or towel. opcorn:
 I agree, I now have several sea sponges to wash vehicles. What I've done now is that I use one sponge for the uper part of a vehicle and another one (the most dirty) on the lower panels...oh and as the sea sponges get old/dirty and contaminated I demote them to wheel wells, rims, door jams..ect..ect..you know the dirty jobs...but that's just me.
They are going to get really dirty as others mentioned. I use a little bit of P21S TAW to clean the mitt or sponge afterwards. I have a separate sponge and mitt that I use only for ONR washes since they do tend to get much dirtier.
