I haven't been around for awhile due to work, family and shop obligations. I see that DB is growing by leaps and bounds! :woot: Congrats to Nica and the team for providing such a great place to hang. :applause2: I am not very busy in my shop during the month of January and into February. :waiting2: This is when I catch up on the family freebies. A local farmer called recently wanting an interior detail on his 2000 Chevy Truck before he sold it. I was hesitant to tell him I would look at it, fearing the condition. Since I have a shop insurance bill approaching; I decided to give it a go, after much debate. The farmer said that I could have it for a couple of days so I figured that a few hours after work each evening that I could knock it out. :badidea: When I arrived home from work the next day, the truck had been dropped off and I was eager to get started. After inspection I realized this truck belonged to a cattle farmer, and that I was in for a real treat! Probably never cleaned out in it's entire life! Please look close at the before pictures, that ain't mud...remember CATTLE FARMER. The owner was very pleased with the truck upon completion. I wasn't thrilled with the outcome. It is far from perfection. I finally came to the realization that clean was going to have to be good enough for this job. There comes a time when you just have to walk away and call it quits! My weapons of choice for this battle were... 1. Shovel 2. Putty knife 3. Lots of APC, rags and brushes 4. Poorboys Natural Look 5. Stoners IG 6. 2 pairs of elbow length rubber gloves Chalk this one up to "A job that helps pay the bills". Enjoy! Dave Befores Afters
Holy shit (quite literally!!) You are a bigger man than I am.. I hear you on having to pay the bills... gotta do what you gotta do!! This even makes Wolfpackers truck interior job he did look like a walk in the park!!!
wow that was a crapy job, but great work.. i have cleaned human waste and know how bad it is... great job
Wow :thud:, what a nasty job! The turnaround is great, hope you got pay well for this type of job you did for him.
Thanks for the kind words guys! Sorry about the picture sizing being so large, I am still learning. :booboo: Dave
This is totally different from what is usually is shown on DB ,when I read that a shovel was one of the tools to detail this truck I had to read it twice to make sure I was seeing correctly, but WOW what a turn around,it's definitely cleaner and more presentable now and just to get to this point is an achievement . Most would probably turn these kinds of jobs down but I commend you for looking at it as a challenge and taking on the task of cleaning and detailing a truck with years of neglect.,well done.
Awesome job. I enjoy seeing real world cars as much as so many of the exotics and near new cars people show here. Not everything comes out perfect, and thats ok. IMHO, your job there came out perfect. Did you do the exterrior at all?
WOW! Very nice turnaround! That was :gross: Hey at least he was not a pig farmer. That is the worst smell!
Thanks again guys for the comments! I realize it wasn't very fancy and I thought a long time about even posting it. My idea about doing this type of work is that anything is an improvement. I tried to sell an exterior but was unsucessful. I did end up throwing in a quick wash and spray wax. I had some new product that I wanted to try. The truck had a flatbed on it so it didn't take that long to do. Dave
Man that is a great job and I feel for you. Like MotorCity said mine was nasty as crap but at least it wasn't nasty FROM crap! You did an excellent job. I too enjoy seeing turnarounds on good ol' everyday cars!
You should be proud of yourself for that job...it was in terrible condition and needed someone who had the guts to tackle it...you da man!!:applause2:
man I thought i did some dirty vehicles... but you got me beat by a mile!!!! and i understand having to do the things you don't want to do to pay the bills... beggers can't be choosers, most of the time!!! I praise for you sucking up your pride and doing the job more then the job itself
Helluva turnaround on that. Good thing there wasnt carpet in there. That would have been aweful. Great Job!!!!!! Heath
Wowwww I don't think I could ever do a job as great as that...that was just insanely gross to the max!
Thanks for posting such a grimy detail. I was a cattle feeder in my younger days and am familar with the problems that can arise thruogh the use of a vehicle on a normal days work. It is easy to let a vehicle slide when working with cattle. I especially like the bolts in the storage tray. They looked like bolts for a door at the bottom of a International Harvester silo. They may or not be but they sure reminded me of them. I do not want to go back to working a farm as the proprietor but sure do love the memories. Excellent work!!
Oh man how did I ever miss this detail, this is a wicked detail :wicked: wow see I personaly enjoy details like these. vehicles in such state either make you a better detailer or just plain and simple breake you :wicked: What do you mean you hesitated to post, no way this is one sweet detail. I mean it's nice seing an exotic vehicle or doing paint correction and taking paint gauge readings on a vehicle but to me these details are just as great :thumb: Okay now come clean, that's a brand new interior liner right? Come on you can tell us hahahahaaaa just teasing that's an incredable turn around, man and I thought I had done some nasty interior.....I got nothing but respect my friend :worship: Don't hesitate to post, we can't always be detailing fancy vehicles....it's nice to do some down to earth vehicles..hahaha get it down to earth hahahahaha oooh I know, I know bad humour but can't help it hahahahahaha A+ for this detail and lots of respect to you :applause:
