Here's my opinion ... OCW has more of a carnuba-look to it. It looks really nice, but sometimes it can be a pain because it doesn't like humidity. If you get some streaking, just wipe again with another towel (no biggie). I love topping 845 with OCW. AW has more of a sealant-look to it. It's less finicky and it hasn't streaked on me yet. I love how it looks on my non-metallic black. I use it every time I do a quick wash. They are both great products!!
or a really hot & humid day. I remember the 1st time I used it last summer ... it was a PITA. OCW has somewhat of a slight learning curve. froboy272 ... do yourself a favor and buy a burgundy bottle of meg's quick detailer. That sprayer works really good with OCW (better atomization ... is that a word?) and it reduces any chance of streaking the paint. Less product is better with OCW. PM me if you need anything. I have heard great things about Zymol's Field Glaze. I have a bottle that I need to try out soon ...
what kind of difference would i see using ocw or aquawax after waxing with colli 845 instead of an fk425 wipedown. on family cars i usuaaly wash, 845, fk425 or just wash and 425.
845 with AW- glossy as hell ... will look like hard candy. 845 with OCW- it's going to give the paint a warm glow, but you'll be able to tell is not a pure carnuba. It's hard to describe, but it's really nice. Let me find the link to the car that I used the 845 and OCW combo.
BTW ... sorry about the condensation areas. I took the pics early in the morning, right before my dad returned to NYC.
I love Aquawax in every way; reasonable durability, incredibly easy to use, has a pleasent scent, and looks awesome. I remember feeling like I was cheating the first time I used it because it did not matter how much I applied, it would not streak or haze in any condition. My dad's RX400h and my mom's LS430 had not been washed for 4 months until this picture and the only thing used after was DG Aquawax:
i use ocw on my wifes black suv, and AW on my white work truck, honestly at their price range you can afford to have both
AquaWax is awesome stuff. silly easy to use. great looks and very slick. Looks great on bout anything really. But on Silver it's really a gem. I use after every cpl of wash's to top off 845 and 476. Got it on top of Opti Seal of my silver Mazda3 . Nice look as well.
I have been trying to condense my collection of products to have a select group of go to supplies. Thanks for all the feedback guys. Sounds like a gallon of aquawax will be in my next order.
Aquawax is great, but so is OCW. It seems DGAW for me personally does not streak as much and seems to go on much thinner. I think OCW looks a little better but AW is a little slicker..
man i went through that same thing a few months ago, and somehow i still have the same amount of stuff (go figure) but honestly determine if you like the sealant look or the carnauba look, then chose based off that, you cant make a wrong decision between these two... for the record, i went from prima hydro to dg aw, and im kinda missing the hydro...
Between the two... I would give the nod to Aquawax. I like to wipedown the windows in addition to the vehicle after a wash, and found that OCW streaked and left a visible "film" on the glass. Aquawax dries clear, with no streaking and no evidence of any "film" on the glass surfaces. I discovered the film that is left on the glass by OCW when I had to wipe off some excess Ultima Trim Guard Plus with a MF spritzed with IPA. There was a disctinct area that was exposed on the glass. A quick spritz of Aquawax on the glass took care of the "film" appearance.
I have been using both for years. I have to give a slight nod to AW. I have gotten a few streaks with OCW but I find that AW wipes off much easier. AW Looks great on glass and can be used on warmer surfaces compared to OCW. I have both and use them frequently.
