Did a search and there were three threads on snow brushes. One likened them to scouring brushes, another wished for a Swissvax version, and the third and what I feel is that they are a necessary evil in the snow belt. What are the options when you have to use one often several times a day? Which is worse a snow brush or letting a big sheet of icy snow slide off in one big chunk as the car warms? Other than the good pre-winter seal (or taking the bus) what are options?
I use a wash brush. Its 10 inches wide with the flagged bristles so its soft enough to get the LOOSE snow off. As with anything, don't scrub. It may not remove everything, but it gets enough off that I can see clearly and there wont be a large amount blowing off the roof of my car, blinding the guy behind me. In BC, its a ticketable offence to drive around with large amounts of snow on the roof of your car because you can cause an accident. Its also just common sense.
I use a Sno-Brum. Nice tool, been using it for some time now. I wish People in the states would start to get ticketed for that too
Or at the very least ticketed for not cleaning the snow off their tail lights. I am tired of following what look like pill boxes made from snow. Tiny little slits to look through, and probably on the cell telling their friends how bad the weather is. I will check out the Sno-Brum. Thanks.
(Paint Safe) Snowbrush: Is your snowbrush ruining your finish, the Stratmosphere Ultimate Snowbrush will not, this new innovation finally brings you the technology you need to save your car's finish this winter. It has Genuine Boar's hair bristles that stay firm, even when wet so it’s kinder to paint finishes than any other snowbrush. Prior to using a paint safe snow brush you have probably damaged your finish by using synthetic-based (plastic) snowbrushes that leave all sorts of scratches and swirl-marks on your finish
Even if the snow brush itself doesn't mar the paint all the salt, grime underneath will... I'll brush off the top loose layer of snow from the horizontal surfaces along with all the lights, glass (of course) and license plates. I've got an OXO about 2 years ago that I've got mixed feelings about. The head does swivel and lock into place which is nice but the handle is about 6 inches too short in my opinion.
