Im new to cameras but have been wanting an SLR for some time now. What's the advantageous of the 2.8 lens over the one above? Can you provide a link to the lens you're referring to. Thanks, -Waseem
The lower that number is, the faster the lens lets light in, which means you can take higher quality pictures in low-light settings.
Waseem...that's a US site. I'm sorry but I doubt it applies to Canadians. Sorry. EDIT...I just checked by putting in a US Zip code and it worked fine.
exactly. it actually is backwards. Your F-stops determine the depth of field meaning what all is in focus. to when people say to stop down your aperture you will be going from f4 to f5 (higher number) when they say stop up you will be going from f5 to f4 a f1.4 lens leaves only the main subject at hand in focus and the rest of the picture is blurred. all and all it depends what type of photography you are into . . . . . most 1.4 lenses are not adjustable when comes to aperture they are fixed at 1.4 where a the stock lens allows you a range of f4-f32 the lower the number the more light is let in leaving less of your photo in focus . . . . . . . the higher the number the less light is let in but the more in focus your items are in your photo. from that point you adjust shutter speeds and so on. Hope that helps a little.
