For those new to detailing and wondering what kind of results you can get, here's what I was able to do on my 2001 330ci – my first using an orbital buffer (Flex 3401). Products: cleanKote clay cleanKote clay lube menzerna SIP menzerna 106FF JetSeal 109 1:1 Isopropyl Alcohol (IAP) / distilled water mix Flex 3401 3M blue painters tape 250W Halogen lamp 3 LC CCS orange pads 2 LC CCS white pads 1 LC CCS grey / black pad 12 MF towels Waffle Weave drying towel What I did, in order: washed clayed washed taped removed license plates removed front grill menzerna SIP menzerna 106FF IPA wipe down JetSeal 109 (1st coat dried over night, 2nd coat dried 4 hours) removed tape final wash How long: washing, clay and tape: 90 mins SIP: 5 hrs 106FF: 3 hrs JetSeal: 30 mins per coat Comments: Spent a lot already on the products listed above, so I skipped the glaze and wax steps hoping to save some cash. Could have used better lighting, might purchase another halogen lamp and associated stand. I found it difficult to tell what level of paint correction i was getting while i was polishing. The 3M Sun Gun is too expensive, I'm going to try finding the brinkman light ($16) people have mentioned and give that a try. I did it over a four day period, i have a day job , tues night - wash, clay, wash, tape; wed - SIP; thurs - 106FF and first 109 coat; fri - last coat of 109, final wash Before - - - - - After - - - - - - Before - - - - - After - - - - - - Before - - - - - After - - - - - -
Well done, those before and afters are quite nice :druling: Ooh nice colour by the way, I love blue :woo: Thank you for sharing, great job.
invest on good lighting and its best to take pictures of defects in the garage with good lighting... its hard to tell the condition of paint but clear enough to see improvement.... GOOD JOB!!!
