I just found this board and as a weekend detailer I'm glad I did - looks like a nice wealth of information. Here's my situation - My wife just got a new black MB C350. I'm not a stranger to black cars and I want to start out right with this one so I'm not playing catch-up. So while the paint is clean and new, I'm planning on doing a wash then applying two applications of Jetseal and finishing it up with One Grand Blitz Wax. Curious on what you guys think - does this sound good or should I start with something before the Jetseal? Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a nice protection package for me. The car is brand new, so you don`t have any swirls? If so, I would consider to polish it first.
Thanks for the feedback. No swirls - only have 25 miles on it -Asphalt, you think I need to prep it that much being that new?
If I use a polish, will there be any issues w/ the Jetseal bonding to the paint? And if I do polish, do you guys think I should use my Porter Cable DA for that step or do it all by hand. For the Jetseal I was told by The Chemical Guys that I'm better off applying it by hand than w/ the Porter Cable because of the potential heat it could create and the hand application will have a better bond. Thanks again for the feedback.
I would say almost brand new cars have swirl marks and scratches filled. How do i know? I know a person who does touch up paint and PDR(paintess dent removal) who works for numerous dealers such as BMW, mercedes and such. They come to the port or sometimes at the dealer. The easiest way to find out is take your car under the bright sun and youll find them there.. .......Your first statement above with JS109 and BLITZ is a good combo. If the swirl marks doesnt bother you, you can hide them with GLAZE products. Polishing is preference but it will bring a good shine and gloss. So before you apply JS109, like mentioned above: -foam the car -rinse -2 bucket method with wash mit -inspect the car for bugs and tars and clay and lube and dry -If the claying part gets messy and dirty, you need to wash the whole car -spray the entire car with water spot remover(DURAGLOSS sells it) -apply JS109 via foam applicator let it haze 5-15 min. and buff with MF towel -Apply blitz wax via foam applicator or MF applicator, let it haze and buff. I like Blitz wax because of its durability and ease of use. I used mine and it last 4-5 months. ENJOY YOUR DETAILING:mounty:
