    Hi everyone,

I am new to the forum and detailing in general. I noticed an orange mark about 2 inches long on my hood. The mark resembles a bug that is hit at high speeds, but yet there are no guts. I was able to remove the orange mark using water and Adam's Professional car wash. However, a clear version of the mark remains. The mark feels like it sits on top of the clear coat, if that makes sense. I have tried Stoner's Tarminator and Meguiar's California Gold carnauba Cleaner Wax, but the mark remains. I have yet to try a clay bar, but wanted to get an expert/seasoned hobbyist's advice regarding the removal. Please excuse the horrible photograph below. Thanks in advance!

You have an orbital or rotary?

Hmm. Well that would help a lot. If you have any kind of polishes you can try rubbing the area with polish on a microfiber towel. If nothing comes out I would look into getting an orbital and pads. Which will give you a good shot at getting that out. Sorry cant be more help. The picture is hard to tell if whatever that was etched into the clearcoat or not.

Before you try a polish try a chemical paint cleaner (least abrasive product first)
