My current sheepskin wash mitt is falling apart, which seems to happen after awhile no matter how I treat it. Is there any other suggestions to try that will work just as well?
I have recently starting using the Zymol Wash Sponge and I must say I really like it. I have been keeping a close eye on any induced swirling and have not wintessed any. I do pressure wash the vehicle first and use Kleenol as a presoak so there is usually no major loose particles left.
what are you doing to treat it? with any of my sheepskins that i had (i use GS now) i always made sure to rinse them out thoroughly and hang them dry... and i never really had an issue. What mitt do u have? My friend has a eurow, and it sstarted falling apart on him because he didnt rinse out when he was done, and hes only used to a handful of times.
I find that after time a piece will get snagged on an emblem or something, and come out, and then the more I use it the more it falls apart. I rinse it after a wash and then hang it up.
I've read up on the zymol sponge, certain people seem to love it, others say it won't absorb any dirt so you could end up rubbing it against the paint? I don't have a pressure washer so maybe it's not a good idea to use it?
I've used the uber sponge with good success.... Dunk it in the bucket and squeeze excess soap/water onto car then redunk and wipwdown
That Is why I stopped using sponges a while back. It never happened to me but so many people would tell me it can happen. After 10-15 years I am revisiting the sponge and so far I have not had any problems. There are people out there that have something bad to say about any wash/dry material. Just be careful no matter what you use. Heck look at the Schmitt, it is a sponge and look how popular it is, we can't keep them in stock!
I GO TO ANOTHER FORUM AT TIMES AND PEOPLE THERE WERE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THERE SHEEP SKIN MITTS TOO. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WAS A BAD RUN ON THEM OR MAYBE THATS JUST MY TWO CENTS:thumb: JUST THOUGHT I WOULD LET YOU KNOW.:thumb:
IME, I've had five sheepskin wash mitts eventually fail on me. They would just fall apart even though I rinse them out and let them dry. Now I'm using the Lowe's GS and the wear and tear is taking its toll but replacements are only $1.98 so it's no big deal, hehe.
Do you use these on your wheels as well? Would the GS's at home depot be similar? Don't have any Lowes where I live
For my wheels I use the Swissvax wheel brush, E-Z Detail brush, and a few others. I've never used the GS on wheels before. The GS at Home Depot is similar but it's actually a bit firmer than the Lowe's one. I feel the Lowe's GS is able to hold more wash solution and is more forgiving.
