So, I was not going to get a LED anytime soon and then I ran across a deal that I could not pass up. It was for a Jetbeam Jet-III M flashlight.

See this link for a detailed review:

JetBeam Jet-III M (Military) Review - RUNTIMES, BEAMSHOTS, DETAILED PICS and more! - CandlePowerForums

    Specs:

    • LED: CREE 7090 XR-E (Q5 bin)
    • Max Output: 225 Lumen ("Torch Lumens")
    • Reflector: aluminum reflector (both smooth and textured available)
    • Lens: Sapphire crystal
    • Material: T6061 T6 aircraft aluminum alloy,
    • Finish: HA III Military grade hard anodized
    • Battery: CR123*2,RCR123*2,18650 Li-ion
    • Input voltage: 2.7-15V
    • Switch: Forward clicky switch
    • Waterproof: IPX-8 standard
    • Output & Runtime:
    • MAX output: 225 Lumens, lasting for 1-3 hours depending on battery
    • Min Output: 2 Lumen, lasting for 200 hours

So the few points that made me really like this light is that in mas it is 225 lm which is pretty high and has a wide beam to help spot imperfections in the paint. But, the main thing I liked was that it has a user selected light level that can let me pick any output from very very low output to the max output. This can let you pick the brightness that best fits the situation and lock it into that setting. This can be good if you use it on different cars and need X lm to find imperfections better. But can then tighten up the head and it will be at max output.

Well I didnt get this light just for detailing but also to keep around the apartment for use when power goes out or just to use for anything. So it is a good light that is very well built that can be used for many situations.

Here some pics, more in the review link if interested.

It is very well built has nice clean cut threads, anodizing is perfect and feels solid. Took it apart to make sure everything was clean and properly lubed which it was.

It works great on my red GTI, just tried it out, could not take very good pics. Going to have to get my tripod back from my friend and try it out again. I think the full power is too much and can strain my eyes if looking at it long enough but half power, apx 100 lm, is a good amount of light. At half power I will have around 6 hrs of power, un regulated tho, on a 18650 battery.

I got it for $50 through a killer deal from someone I know getting rid of it because he has too many lights, is a collector. He hardly even used it just put some CR123s in to see if it worked and that is it. But normal price is around $71-75.

Only bad thing is that it showed me all the scratches that I thought were not there, so only bad thing is that it will show EVERYTHING haha. oh well, that is why I got it I guess.

The detailing thing has curiously gotten me a bit of a flashlight fetish. Most of mine are Brinkmanns of some sort, with a decent LED one in the mix that I forget the manufacturer of.

Ha! Yeah, the Fenix, in the middle of the night, is how I found that hologram on the tailgate of the F250. Couldn't see it at all during the day until I knew where (and how) to look.

Well my take it as long as the sun does not show it to be obvious then I don't really care as it is my DD. Now I am coming up with a way to attach it to my tripod so I don't have to hold it and can use it when polishing or anything were I want my hands free.

Got bored after class last night and made a little mount to attach my light to my tripod. I can attach it with or without a camera.
