    Hello,
I am new to machine polishing and I have chosen to use the 7424XP. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place to buy one. I have also selected a few polishes and was wondering if someone could tell me if I have chosen wisely. The 3 I have chosen are as follows. If I am missing say a in between polish please let me know.

    1. Menzerna Power Gloss Compound S34A

    2.
    Menzerna Power Finish PO 203

    3.
    Menzerna Finish Polish PO85RD

It has been recommended to me to use PO85rd from menzerna. Should I order that also or just stick with the P0106FA?

They finish down to the same gloss, but the po106fa (aka superfinish) has more cut.

Superfinish is my absolute favorite polish.

I'd skip the power gloss, considering it is ultra aggressive and make more passes if
necassary with something like Meguiars M105.

I was thinking about maybe buying everything separate. CG has a good deal on hex logic pads and someone else said not to use the power gloss. The recommended the megs D300. This is all new to me and I appreciate all the help. Is it worth it to buy the hex logic pads or should I just stick with the uber pads?

I think you received great advice from Ken (911Fanatic) on the other thread and I advise you to take it.

Note that he is talking about 5.5" pads to go with the 5" backing plate. It would be nice to have a few more pads (not different pads just more) but they aren't essential. If you aren't aiming for a show car finish you could get by without the 85RD or Super Finish. Uber pads and I think the CG Hexlogic pads are made by Buff & Shine. Phil at Detailer's Domain is much faster and easier to deal with than Chemical Guys in my experience plus by buying from Phil you are supporting this forum. Also remember that you get 10% off the DD prices as a forum member here.

So what you are saying is that I should have 2 or more of each pad? I really do want a show car finish on my talon. So I think I will get the 85RD. How do you access the 10% off?

For discounts read the stickies in both the Detailer's Domain and Now That You're Here... forums.
The advantage of more pads is that you can toss on a fresh pad and keep going rather than having to frequently pause to clean your pad. Two of each pad will get you by but more is a useful luxury as well as more insurance against interruptions from torn or dropped pads.
As to pads I think the foam is pretty much the same in all B&S manufactured pads. I believe the velcro backing on the Uber pads doesn't run all the way to the edge of the pad plus they are marked as to application should you need that. The basic Buff & Shine pads don't have those refinements. So far, and there are more experienced people here who may give you different answers, I'm not persuaded that pads with surface patterns (like Hexlogic or CCS) deliver any better performance than flat pads.
