Get a Makita 9227C, best overall rotary IMO.

I personally like 5.5" Uber foam pads (Detailersdomain.com) along with a thick foam backing plate like the 3M one.

Either a DeWalt or Dynabrade, they are a much better tool than Makita.

My learned colleague knows the truth. Seriously, the Dynabrade is a bloody work-horse but is under-rated compared to the Makita. It is no question a better machine. The Makita is just better known.

Dana, what kind was yours again? I really need to get my Makita fixed I am hearing crackling sounds now, maybe I'll take it apart tomorrow.

Yea, actually looking at the specs now, it looks like it. I'll get one when my Makita breaks down, which might never happen.

This is the one you are talking about right?

Darkstar, I believe thats it. I had one ordered from a WyomingTool. It was like $180 but they never got it in stock. I had to cancel the order. The last time I talked to them, they said 6weeks. I told the guy it wont be 6 weeks for me!! So i got the Makita.
The Place was WyoTool but they dont have they dynabrade listed anymore. Jamestown would be my next choice.

Mine are Black and Deckers, the newer version of mine is the DeWalt 849. I think it worked just fine after being 27 years old, what would you say. I have two, bought the sametime and never once had misery.

Go to Richy's stats, he started a thread on his Dynabrade and where he bought it from.

Asphalt, why do you say that? Have you owend both the Makita and DeWalt? I'm just curious as to what your experience were with them. I'm currently trying to save up to get a rotary and was leaning towards the Makita.

Guys , i really appreciate your help but TBH i havent got a clue what i should be looking for in a rotary and what rotary i should buy , sorry to be picky but i would idealy like a rotary which has the UK plug end.

Cann you tell me what i should be looking for in a rotary aswell please because i dont want to be spending £200 and not "liking" the machine or it not being the right one.

R1KK1, you're going to get different opinions as to which is the best machine simply because everyone has their own specific needs. Some people may like machine X because it is light and is easy for them to control and some one else may like machine Y because it is ergonomically designed to better fit their hands. Some one may have bought machine X only to have it break a month later and because they happened to get a lemon, they are now turned off by that company's products. On the other hand, the person that bought machine Y has never had any problems with it and for that, they rate that company highly. My point is, the only you're going to find that perfect machine for you is by buying one and trying it out. If you don't like it, put it for sale and get a different one.

Some of the other members have pointed you in the right direction as to which companies sell machines that meet your power requirements. I'm sure you'll be able to find a machine that performs well for less than 200 pounds. With that being said, don't run out and buy one for 50 pounds. If you do, you may find that you'll have to end up replacing it quickly. For the most part, quality does not come cheap. Spend the extra money and get a quality product.

Just out of curiosity, do you have any experience with a rotary?
