Well I have the obvious construction style lighting and all of that behind me when I'm working in the garage, but it became cumbersome. After I did my friend's dad's 1991 Corvette, he liked it so much he threw in this LED light that he uses because he's a mechanic. Little did I know the thing goes for near $60 bucks and it works pretty damn well to show swirls, even though white was a little hard to show up. The white vehicle I did use it on is pretty new, within a year, so maybe I didn't use it on a good candidate.

It's supposed to last like 7 hours or something and has 18 LED's. It's made by Blue Point , and folds.

Let me know what you guys think.

In my opinion, any light that can show swirls well and makes the job that much easier is awesome in my book, how bright is it compared to other forms of lighting?

Well, I'd have to take some pics for you. It's a little painful to look into the vicinity of the LEDs so thats a good thing, or bad depending if your health is less important than swirls haha.

hmm. i love how they say super bright leds

    how this
    [IMG]

did this for my friends jetta as backup lights.
one board puts out around 1000 lumens(more or less, each led at 100ma runs about 20lumens, there is 60 of them on each board, if you go by Watts then its .1A*3.6V*60*75L/W=1620lumens estimate), i know its pretty weak since thats about as much as 55W 9006 bulb. but maybe it could work too

^ You know something like that might actually work great. A lot of people are using the fenix tactical led flashlights and those put out around 200 lumens? I had the idea of making my own inspection light using leds like that, I'm not sure how cost effective it would be though.

^parts for that cost me around $80

i got my ultrafire flashlight for $26 from dealextreme. it puts out 220 lumens.
you can get brighter one with 900lumens for about $45-60

I think 900 Lumens would be overkill lol. Hows your cheaper one doing, I think I might have got the same one from dealextreme, I think it was 250 lumens for 20$ or so.
