Ok so my lease is up on my Chevy trailblazer and its time for a new ride..... I am a bit confused as to what i am gonna get..... i have it Narrowed down to a Leftover 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser or a 2009 Mustang GT 5 spd.... my confusion lies in my situation right now....i have kinda pushed the Detailing business aside since i recently got a decent stady job Rigging New Boats for Steiger Craft here on long Island....its a 28 mile drive each way and theres not much traffic since i am heading east in the morning and theres not alot of people heading there at that time....so i am gonna be driving about 300 miles a week.... I have a 1994 Ford Bronco to tow my boat and do local details as well as get me around in the snow but its a gas hog and has over 100k on the clock and isnt super reliable in my eyes any longer with having such a long drive daily..... i am trying to decide...have fun and get the mustang to use pretty much daily and keep the bronco as my back up/tow vehicle/detail truck/snow rig/whatever car and thats that.....ORRRRR get the FJ cruiser which is practical and can do all the things the bronco can and sell the aging bronco and be done..... HHHEEELLLPPPP....... i dont really want any other vehicle selections as i have looked at everything out there and narrowed it down to one of these two with the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited 4 dr a close second to the FJ Cruiser....
Tough choice, I personally would go with the FJ. The reason I say that is because of it's versatility. I mean you can haul anything and everything you need but that's just me, hope this helps eace:
Phil (detailersdomain) said he had FJ Cruiser, and it was THE WORST vehicle he ever had...It is the least dependable Toyota in this case...I'd stay away from it in this case... Again, not to highjack the thread, just trying to be helpful...If I was you, I'd get a used 4-Runner in this case, very dependable, reliable, and practical...and get rid of Bronco...
friends got a TRD FJ, put it on Craigslist 4 months later and lost a few K in the deal. They HATED it. For a split second I thought about taking it off their hands. After detailing it, I hated it. I got a DC Tundra 5.7 to fill the void. Get whatever choice is not the FJ.
The FJ is tiny inside...I'm 6'4" and my knees hit the dash when there are passengers in the back. How much towing capacity do you need?
I dont need killer towing capacity since my boat is only about 2500lbs and i only tow 1/4mile to and from the boat ramp....my main objective with this vehicle is something Fun, Reliable, Decent on fuel(at least as good as my Trailblazer but want Better), not too expensive and DIFFERENT.... The FJ fits the Bill, the Wrangler is OK but rides like it has cement wheels....the Mustang rides the best out of all of them but i kinda feel like the mustang is gonna get old after a year and it may get me in trouble....I dunno...i kinda HAVE to have a car by the end of the week so i need to figure it out....
tundra or tacoma. or a ford pickup. I am very biased when it comes to vehicles. Toyota and ford make the best trucks (just my :2cents: ). As far as the mustang, ford makes some shitty looking dashes/radio/climate control areas. Easy to detail though. The FJ gets pretty crappy reviews. Taco or Tundra would be your best bet.
i dont realy want a pickup....been there done that....although i loved my 04 Silverado at this point a pickup is just not for me....
OK. 4Runners are nice. I like the look of the special edition ones. There's a lady here at work who's had one for a few years now, and said she likes it.
not really a 4runner fan......if i am gonna spend the coin for a 4runner i would get the Trailblazer SS that i really want but its a Gas hog and driving 300+ miles a week it would bleed me dry.... Its still between the FJ or the Mustang GT and Possibly the Wrangler Unlimited.....
I like the styling of the FJ (reminds me of the Tonka trunks from when I was a kid) but it requires premium and oil is creeping upward quickly so.... Jeep reliability...well from experience the JEEP acronym certainly has a degree of truth. There is a certain appeal though to owning one that I can't quite put my finger on but I wouldn't want one as a daily driver. The FJ would get my vote between the FJ and Mustang. If your Bronco up and croaks you're going to be SOL for towing so just from a practical standpoint the FJ makes more sense. That or a Mustang and a parts Bronco...
I think i am going FJ.....the whole premium fuel thing isnt an issue according to the guys over at FJ cruiser forums....they say its just a little less peppy but other than that its fine.....if i am gonna do some off roading or towing i will put premium in it but i have always done that anyway....
