While he was there, I QD'd a small part and tried chrome polish... not much help. then I tried to clay the rim, not alot there either.

so is there any other methods that would work??

I guess you need to wetsand the ring, then polish it up. A powerball would help you alot here I bet. Its a guess, not a answar. hehe

How about some P21S Polishing Soap?

That stuff is ok but nothing spectacular by any means. I wonder what some CGs wheel acid would be able to do for it. If that brake dust has actually etched it's way into the wheel I'm not sure what you can do.

Sorry bro I could have sent you some. It does a good job on metal that hasn't been neglected too much but it's not a miracle worker by any stretch of the imagination. Not sure that it's all that much better than most metal polishes I've used. I am still in search of the Holy Grail of metal polishes.

Dang it, I cant see images from work!!!!

I love Klasse and the CG metal polish twins. (Or you can help out a DB sponsor and get the Adams metal Polish twins from Phil ;))

I also really like the P21S polishing soap, until I tried Klasse on metal, then I havent touched the stuff since.

i don't wanna go into all that mess, I doubt this guy would either

have S100 which is same thing, but need something more aggressive

im afraid acid would leak down and break the chrome off the wheel

haven't tried klasse on metal yet

I ran into something similar but not as bad as those rims, i use a powerball and also RL Chrome & Glass polish and it work well for me. But the pic's of those rims look pretty bad, hope you find a solution.

the chrome is prob really thin and they will never be perfect he could just get them chromed again cause you wont get the deep stuff out.

I've tried to fix some wheels like that before. I ended up combining my favorite metal polish with some 0000 steel wool.

It obviously will take some of the chrome lustre away from the wheel, but it will even out the finish and IMHO make the wheel look nicer.

I'd say with that deep etching, the wheels are toast. Re-chrome, or give them the 'brushed' look. :)

I would try some SSR3 (or similar product) on a spot. I would think a power ball would be great in this area.

Haha, no worries mate! I don't think I need something too aggressive since I am looking to just give metal a little rejuvination...

You tried the polish and nothing the next step is useing acid i strongly recomend megs wheel brightner from the pro line and it is non hydrofluoric (bonus). Then if that does not work i would have to agree with bob and the 0000 ultra fine steel wool with polish as the lube it does wonders. Remember Somtimes what you are seeing is brake dust that has bonded to the chrome and is actualy rusting above the surface.

I would have to agree with JohnyB, Meg's Wheel Brightner is some strong stuff, diluted accordingly and it will work wonders. I've only used it once and man that stuff is mean, it will literally take your breath a way. Nasty stuff but works great on rims...well rims that need it.

I've also use the 0000 Ultra Fine Steel Wool combined with a metal polish product and it works quite well. But I too have been searching for a good product to polish exaust tips, rims..ect..ect..still haven't found a product that satisfies me...so the search continues.

Hey boys, next time you're in Williams Sonoma, there is a special little tube of metal polish that is supposed to be the best.

GO SEARCH FOR IT NOW, I'm keeping it a secret for now...
