I'm using 1Z Intensive Paste with a green pad and I can't get it to finish down without adding swirls. I keep trying less and less polish but it still comes out to the same effect. I feel like it is taking longer than expected to break down. How much do you use and how long do you break it down for? What is your speed method? Same as a finishing polish? I guess any advice on a polish will do.:shead:

maybe try a less aggressive polish/pad combo to see if itll take the swirls out? im not too sure either, but thats what i probably would have tried by now

1Z Pasta Intensiv is what I used on that truck in "my first professional detail" thread. I had problems with holograms/marring (until I adjusted my technique), and it was due to not breaking the polish down fully.

    Here's my recommendations:

1 - make sure the pad is primed/moistened.

2 - put the polish directly on the panel, instead of the pad.

3 - spread at 600, work for a couple passes at 900, work for 2-3 passes at 1200 (this is where I used a little more pressure, since this is where I figured the most correction was taking place. 1Z IP wants to flash if worked too long at over 1000 RPMs), back down to 900 until polish goes clear, then down to 600 for a few slow, steady passes to finish it off.

It took me a few hours to develop my routine with this polish. I think the reason you still have marring/swirls is most polishes have diminishing abrasives, and they are not fully "diminished" yet when you stop polishing. I'm guessing this because that was my exact problem. I needed to work each section about 2-3 minutes to fully break down the polish.

Of course, this is what worked for me. YMMV

Thanks Pete. At this point a couple panels have the marring/light swirls so at this point I'm just going to continue to do this and then at the end go over it with HGP on black, and then make a final pass of HGP on red with the PC. I feel if I sit there and mess around with it it'll take way too long, I'm not going for full correction, just a freshen up.

Pektel's info is right. It does take a bit to break down, but it defenitely needs to be followed up with a finishing/jeweling polish.

    What buffer are you using?
