    Hi

I'm new to this forum - I would like some basic advice and/or products to use to polish my truck (I have a gold Chevy Silverado). After reading some forum topics, I just need a summary of the best tools and products to use. I also need specific advice on the methods to apply these products.

I'm really looking for a step-by-step instruction that lists the best products and tools. I've read that the Flex XC3401 and Menzerna polish might be a way to get started. Does anyone have an opinion about these products, or does anyone know of a kit that would have good tools and products to get started?

    Thanks,

    Randy

Flex is a good machine from what I hear, I only have a Makita and PC, because it is a combination of orbital and rotary but you still have to be careful because it will still burn through the clear coat. You can't go wrong with Menzerna either, all their products are good for any use. Just make sure if you jump to the Flex you find some practice panels to work on before you take it to your's or someone else's car. The best way to learn is to experiment with different pads and polishes until you are comfortable with different combinations. Sorry I couldn't give a longer write up, its gettin late here. I am sure there are more qualified people to give better advice than myself. There are a ton of people on here you can learn a vast amount from. Good luck with everything!

Phil at detailersdomain has several good kits on there that would be great for starting out.

There really is no quick answer to your questions really. All the equipment and supplies we use are based on our personal preferences so it's really up to you to form your own opinion of things by doing a lot of reading and trial and error.

Good luck with this as this is an addicting hobby!

The big questions is.....what's your budget?

The flex is a great tool that will be more user friendly than a rotary but still has the power to correct pretty fast. The downside to that is it comes at a price.

another question to ask iis, will this be only for your car?

If your only working on your car and maybe one or two here or there, but are on a tight budget, a pc/g110 is a great cheap choice. A full set of pads and polishes + the polisher can be had for the same price as just the flex itself.

Once you answer that than its a lot easier to pick the right products

I agree with Dsoto87. Your budget will be the factor that determines what you get. The Flex is very nice but is also expensive. PM sent.
