So im relatively new to detailing Ive used stuff you get at auto zone up until now and i want to get in to the professional products now. right now im just looking for a good wheel cleaner, a good shampoo, wax that will produce the best shine for a white car, and good tire dressing. Any suggestions will be very helpful, Thanks!
Not every OTC product is bad ... I would start with good OTC products and then expand your collection. 1. Eagle One A to Z Wheel Cleaner 2. Duragloss 901 Wash Soap 3. Collinite 845 4. Duragloss Tire Dressing 253 or Surf City Beyond Black You might want to get some clay. AutoMagic Blue is decent. Get some decent MFs though. I don't know which OTC ones are ok for paint.
Well, you will get a lot of different opinions for best products of different category but heres my preference rim cleaner: Autoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner (if you're using more ceramic brake pads) / Sonax Full Effect (if you have lots of iron brake dust) tire cleaner: 1z Blitz APC shampoo: Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss (for LSP Stripping) / Meguires Gold Car Wash (Maitanence + OTC tho really for the past few months its been ONR) Wax: Depending on your budget Swissvax Glacier i think is made for white paint however I truly dont know as I dont own any light color cars Tire Dressing: 303 Aerospace Protectant imo
Head on over to autogeek, right now they have the entire DP line on buy one get one free. The tire gel, shampoo, Max wax and wheel cleaner are all top notch products. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
Im a fan of checmical guys as well, I think budget and what level of a detail the OP wants to achive is important. That being said, CG is a well priced porduct. You can buy it in 160z, and 1 gallon, both can be diluted. IE: CG citrus gell wheel cleaner 16 0z makes about half a gallon for about $13.00. Im a big fan of Auto Glym Custom Wheel Cleaner as well for daily driven maintained wheels. Tire shines, off the shelf, Meguiars Ultimate Tires Shine is a great product, I bought some for my truck, but I use Prima Nero as well, both on tires and inside on the plastics etc. Off the shelf shampoo, Meguiars Gold Class is a good product, so is the Meguiars Ultimate Car wash if your looking to do maintance washes, but I prefer CG maxi suds. I used to have a white Scion TC, and I actually had really good results with Meguiars NXT 2.0 paste, cheap and easy to get, and if you like waxing your car (once or twice a month) its a great product. but I used P21s on a white civic a few weeks ago and it came out great. Auto Glym HD wax is also a good product, you can order it from Detailers Domain. Depending on your paint contition, you may beed to clay your car as well before applying wax, and to get the best results, good prep work IE, cleaning, claying etc is important or you money on wax is a waste of time and money IMO. I use Zaino claybars, but thier are many options out there. Anyway, that is my opinion. Alot of guys here like pretty much the same stuff to a certain extent, and will tell you what is Crap, and what works. Send a email to phil at Detailers Domain and he can set you up with pretty much anything and everything. someone said Microfiber towels, get some high quality ones for paint work and go to costco and buy some cheap yellow ones for interior work, wheels, door jams ect. good luck
I know but the deal is just hard to beat for someone new to the game. Sent from my Droid using Tapatalk
