You are going to need a good compund.. If you want to shop locally you can get some meguiars 105 Ultra Cut Compund on a 3m wool pad and that will do the trick for the sanding... After that I personally would use menzerna polish on a green LC pad, and then Menzerna Intensive polish on a white pad, followed by Menzerna 85rd on a black or red pad - BUT if you dont have the menzerna's you can give the SSR's a whirl.. I have no experience with them so I can't speak on their performance I have read some people have had great success with the SSR's but I think your main shortcoming from what you have described is that you need a good compound and some wool
Any other good compound suggestions if im going to order some stuff i want to know what other options are good Thanks guys
Yep but I suggested M105 because you dont have to order it.. Menzerna Power Gloss is also really good and more of a traditional product (meaning diminishing abrasive technology).. M105 is totally different in use
I agree with Deep Gloss...M105 is a great compound to use with wool. I used it on a automatic wash brush beaten VW Rabbit this weekend with my Flex 3401 and a purple foamed wool pad. It was the first time I've really used it and it removed about 85-90% of the scratches and swirls on the paint. Followed up with some Menzerna SIP on an LC orange pad. I got it to finish down pretty good and the owner wasn't wanting to pay more for a finishing polish. Most others on here will recommend Menznera polishes as we well after compounding. PowerGloss is good, but M105 w/ wool seems a little more effective...on my Flex anyway.
You are definitely going to need a compound for that. I would suggest Menz Power Gloss. I haven't used 3M but hear their Fast Cut Plus works well. Try an orange CCS first. If that doesn't work go to Megs cutting pad. I'm not sure of the number but its burgundy in color and cuts like feckin' crazy. Keep your speed low(1000-1200rpm) and keep the pad moving. I've personally never used wool because one of these pads is usually enough to get the job done. I find the Megs cutting pad works better than the yellow CCS as well. Follow up with Menz SIP on green CCS(or white) and finish with MenzPO85rd on black.
When I first started machine polishing I didn't work the compounds long enough to properly break them down and got similar results. Not familiar with SSR polishes myself, but I learned a lot by watching Nicas' rotary technique videos here. It doesn't look like strike through to me. I'd say the answer is either in the polish or the technique. :giterdone:
Just wanted to thank yall for all the help i bought all those products and used them and man it looks amazing so glossy and perfect. Thanks guys ill try to get some pictures up as soon as my camera gets fixed Thanks
Just to add to what jason said(Deep Gloss), if you can not get M105 locally, 3M Extra cut is a nice compound, but if you can get M105 that would be the first choice.
