To give you a story why I even went to Goatfest...

I posted pics about a month and a half ago about my trip to the Dallas Autorama, while there I met up with a detail supply company called Tropi-care. The are sort of a local dist. from the DFW area. So me and TexasTB went to their booth to check out their products.

They were doing a wet-sanding and polishing demo on a scrap piece with a PC and UDM. Long story short, I had asked them if they ever had used or heard of the Flex.... have you ever seen a deer in headlights? That's the kind of respose I got... then I mentioned Menzerna polishes, again I got that stupid deer!!! Well I bought a microfiber from them which I love and hate to use, and some of their sealant which is a nice offering, quick cure time but not as quick as jetseal... maybe 30mins-1hr on paint depending on weather and then maybe another hour before topping.

Well then I am doing a local carshow in April and asked if they would send me some samples to try out on a '56 Chevy I am demoing on. And while on the phone they asked me to come out to Goatfest to see how they used their products (at the same time, they asked me to bring my Menzerna and my flex). Needless to say, in a week or so they will be carrying PG, SIP and 106ff... along with the flex if they can get their hands on some.

But there were close to 200 GTO's from Texas and surrounding states.... it was really amazing, we even did a demo on a guy's black GTO. Onto the pics....

First off, some pics of my favorite GTO's:

I didn't get pics of the other waves cause we were busy doing demo, but here is all of them together...:

This was the most Ghetto GTO of them all!!! Spray painted wheels and scotch tape over his holes where the spoiler used to be!!!! and Dirty as all get out!!!!

This guy submitted his car for demo purposes on LS1GTO forum and he won.... of couse it was overcast so it was very hard to see all the damage, especially w/the brinkman I brought, which everyone there had never seen and thought was the COOLEST thing ever!!!

So here are some before pics:

Basically we foamed, washed with Ulti-mitts, rinsed, foamed again, clayed, rinsed, foamed and washed again then rinsed.

I told them the trick of spraying down the car with QD to help drying and they thought I was crazy, once they dried.... I wasn't crazy anymore!!!

On the correction part, I used the flex and sip with an orange LC pad, while Tropi-care used UDM, orange and IP.... I won!!! That was just for fun, eventually the whole car was done with SIP.

Now on the trunk lid, they wet sanded with this new Sandpaper this is outta this world, I will try to get a link when Tropi-care posts it up on their web-site... but they used 3000grit and polished with the Flex and SIP combo... very nice results

Here's a pic of using UDM vs Flex again:

Needless to say, Flex had to go over UDM side for one pass!!!

Once it was all buffed off, we cleaned car again... and it was topped with TC-3 via PC and UDM with bonnets, cured then buffed off with some plush MF, and here are the results:

Hate to say yes I'm serious. I have to agree with you that a LOT of car enthusiasts need help. To most it's all about the shiny swirl marks.:crasy:

Teach that guy to place the power cord over his shoulder, away from the paint surface...yikes...

What's even crazier is that I talke w/this guy ALL during the fest... he was wanting to really get into detailing to he was hovering over me the whole time asking questions and just taking in everything that was going on. He was super nice and I really hate that he had to die... his wife and little girl were there as well, but thank God they weren't in the vehicle with him.:sorry:

It was a fun demo, but I wish the sun was out so you could see the flake in the paint and the before/after better..

Overall it was a great event and I'd do it again in no time!

Wait a second. The car you helped detail was the car involved in the accident? Wow.

thanks for posting this dust, although Im real sorry to hear about the accident, very sad.

Anyway, its cool you got to show tropicare some new stuff, they are very popular at ls1gto.com (theyre a sponsor) and I always thought their products would probably be good for the amateur who wants to keep it simple and still get good results.

Again thanks for the pics, I always like to see more GTO pics, that was a nice turnout for that event.

Shortly after Goatfest ended one of the attendees died in an auto wreck. That person appears to be the person that won the detail.

NO NO the guy involved in the fatal wreck wasn't the one who won the detail, he was just overlooking the demo and asking lots of questions and getting alot of advice to take home with him to pursue his hobby of detailing..

He was a very genuine guy and very nice. May god bless his family.

what kind of pad do you have on the flex? looks smaller then the BP? also you should have told them to put the power cord over the shoulder

very nice of you for doing this though

Ok... lemme set the record straight. The car we detailed was not involved in the accident. There was a gentelmen there named Chris who was at the event to show off his GTO and to learn from the clinic Tropi-care and myself held.

From the moment I got there I was introduced to Chris and he just started asking a ton of ?'s. He was a teacher from the Dallas area who did detailing on the side, but was wanting to take it to the next level. The guy was totally awesome, he had his wife and little girl there as well.

I hate that this happened to him... appearantly on his way home there was some sort of collision and he died. His wife and daughter are ok. Please pray for them and the rest of his family through this difficult time.

it's a 5.5" lc ccs pad... the bp on the flex is a custom 5" bp
