Alright ladies and gentlemen. I jumped in with a duetto for my first polisher. I have a 2014 black passat that I will be using Sonax perfect finish on this coming week. I have a few noob questions.

    1. How do you know when the polish has "flashed"?

    2. Do you recommend speed 4-5? I'll be using über foam pads.

    3. Do I need to use a detail spray such as adams to deactivate left over compound in the pad?

    Thank you for the help.

The polished has flashed when you can see your reflection in the paint. It'll still look oily, but you should be able to see yourself in the paint. On my duetto, I usually run it at 4-4.5. Just use a brush to lightly wipe the pad after each section pass to clean it before adding more polish.

    - Flashed - will also = broken down.

    - I would agree with Ken it should be speed 4-5.

    - Use the pad brush to clean up the pads

Thanks for the info. I'll post after I get my test panel finished.

Alright. I just did a test panel and Perfect finish with rupes yellow took out 95% of the imperfections. There are some deeper scratches. So, I'm wondering if I should just go to the green pad with perfect finish?
