Hadn't had a chance to wash my car for a few weeks, so this wash was long over due! It looks much better now though, heres what I did. Wheels and arches first, a rinse off with the hose and then a 10% BH Surfex mix squirted all over. Left to soak for a while, then rinsed, and washed with some Mark V Cherry shampoo with a splash of Surfex in the bucket. A selection of brushes and microfibre mitt to get to the backs of the wheels. See, better already. The lower half of the car got a bit of a pre-soak with a weak mix of Surfex HD (about 3%) and a drop of Auto-foam to try and make it cling a bit more. And the honeycombe plastics get a good going over with a brush. All that gets rinsed before... A bit more pre-washing using some Dodo Juice Born to Be Mild through the super sprayer. Unfortunately for me the pressure washer is out of action so no foam today. Yet another rinse off. And then on to a two bucket wash using Born to be Mild again and a couple of RB Wash mitts. Final rinse with open ended hose to get the water to sheet off. On to the drying, one of my new Super Plush Drying Towels, soaks up the water lovely. Not too much dirt in the rinse bucket. :gasp: It was starting to get dark when I started and I then ran out of light, so up bright and early this morning to give it a quick top up with some Mark V Fast Wax. A couple of squirts per panel. Wiped over with plush towel. And buffed with one of my new Super Plush Towels. Defintely looks better now! Tyres get dressed with Mark V California Dressing, using an old sponge as an applicator. I've buffed the dressing to give it a more matt, natural look. Gave the glass a clean with some Mark V Window Sheen, the black trim had the Fast Wax on it so nothing else was done for now. And the finished article. not too bad for a few hours work. Interior will be the next job on the list, not too bad.
Yes, It was about time for a wash. I hate it when mine gets like that. Oh, Thats right mine doesn't get like that...:lol2:
Looks good Ben. Do you sell the surfex? what exactly is it? I really want one of those drying towels now. They look nice and soft!!
Indeed I do sell Surfex, it's a water based degreaser. Very highly concentrated and very powerful cleaning, yet still safe and gentle. Cut 10% it is stong enough to do most jobs, even engine degreasing. I tend to use it as an APC, although strictly speaking it is a degreaser and not suitable for fabrics.
Still got it mate, it's lurking in the background of one of the pics. Thanks to our Governments new vehicle tax bands it's worthless, so I will keep it till it falls apart. Oh and IT'S AN MG NOT A ROVER. :catfight:
Wow, I love the looks of that drying towel. With the exchange rates looking to be in our favor, it is VERY tempting to pick one up. :waiting:
