For the 1st time I was given the honour of testing out a new product. It is a sealant in the DG 105 family, but this one needs no curing agent to precede it. I first stripped the FX of any old products by using the 3 step valuguard system. i then gave it a quick go round of Danase wet glaze on a blue pad with my UDM just to make sure the shine I was going to lock in was killer. I then used a brand new yellow polishing pad and applied it to all the paint, glass and my chrome wheels. After doing all that, I used a blue indigo cobra followed by a cookie monster to remove. Application was a breeze, removal was a breeze. The result? A shine like you would not believe. The clarity from the paint was intense. I took a few shots, I hope you get a feel for what this stuff looks like. I AM IN LOVE WITH IT!! Anyway, I can't yet disclose from whom this sample came, but I have pressured them to accelerating the process to market. BLAH, BLAH BLAH..On to the pics: HAZING UP AFTER APPLICATION: APPLIED TO GLASS TOO: REMOVAL TOOLS (COBRA & COOKIE MONSTER): FINSIHED GOODS: LEFT SIDE OF HOOD: RIGHT SIDE OF HOOD: REFLECTION SHOTS:
Looks great richy! What was the curing time of the sealant? Also, is that your house? Nice looking neighborhood!
I don't know to be honest. I wasn't supplied a lot of information about it. And, yes, it is my house for the last 6 years. Thanks doc..the surface is very, very slick too. Thanks Rocket! Tom, thank you and it was my pleasure sharing.
WOW!!! That looks most awesome...Maybe someday I will get my black wrangler to look like that...:worship2:
richy that looks amazing. Would be interested to know if like a few sealants it gets even better looking after a day or two. That think is just a shimmering pool of blackness!!! Keep us updated on how it holds up and when it might be available to the rest of us!!
Nice stuff. I've used DG 105 just a time or two, and DG 501 as well. I've never used the bonding agent prior to either one. I don't remember the instructions specifically calling for it? Your FX looks immaculate though.
Fantastic, I am very curious! So is this product made by Duragloss? I also have used 105 before without a bonding agent, worked great!
Buddy..thank you. I am sure you'll get your wrangler to look like that soon..just stick around here, man..you'll pick up lots of hints for products, techniques and tools to get the job done!:buffer: Shiny..thank you. No I did not; I was pressed for time and just had time to do the tires and not the undercarriage. I didn't want the tires to detract from the pics I was taking, so I figured I had to do them. JL..I left for Toronto to go to a wedding this weekend and I was sure getting stares running down the 401!! I had a guy refuse to believe the car was 4 years old too..it was nice! I washed the bugs off it tonight. I COULDN'T BELIEVE how the water was beading/flooding (that's not the term I want, but I'm having a brain fart) off the paint! It looked fantastic after drying it off. Thanks. The instructions for 105 don't specifically call for it. If you read the instructions on the bonding agent (601) itself it says it's for polyamino silicone sealants, which means squat to me. It says it greatly increases shine, and durability of the sealant by using it, as well as the main benefit for me, speeding up curing time. I have spoken to Jerry at DG at length about this, b/c I wanted to make sure I could use AW after the 105 without having any real cure time. With the 601/105 combo, AW can be used in as little as an hour after, although I try to time it to give it longer. I want the longest protection possible for my clients. Thanks yukon! P1et..thanks man! I let out too much already about who makes it, but I think you can guess from the other comments and my track record of product usage to see who's making it. The only reason I use the bonding agent is so I can follow it up with AW before delivery. The 105 does work great without it, no question. In fact, I had some streaking issues using both together but that was solved by adding an ounce of rubbing alcohol to the 601 (Jerry's suggestion). Thanks Gary! Thank you, I appreciate the comments. Pat..I can't wait for this product to hit the market. I'm going to try to find out some more answers to time lines, etc. I want to try to time my stock of sealant with the delivery of this new product, as it will be my new go-to stuff!
That looks great richy, love the reflection. After using DG on the fire trucks I'm quite stuck on it now, in fact the owner of the business insists on having DG sealant on the trucks and his personal vehicles as well. Look forward to more news on this product, oh and as always love your house buddy :druling: :druling: Thanks for sharing eace:
