Hi there... Just a quick question to the Canadians on this site, My wife and I live very hectic lives we work long hours with very high stress levels. I have my own business and recently although only 30 the stress has started to affect my health so for the last year, I have been rapping the business up to sell and hopefully by the end of the year it will be complete... Background over... now We have thought about moving to another country for a while and are going to live in the south of France for 6 months but are really keen to spend a couple of years in Canada... What is the pace of life like over there and where are the best places to stay/visit I will work at something pretty easy and the wife will be with the family so nowhere too remote also The big plus is the speaking of French as I want our wee man to become as fluent as possible at an early age we on the other hand can only speak very broken French so again we need somewhere that can cater for our needs.. any help or ideas would be great.. Thanks. Ronnie
for french you're good looking in the areas like Montreal, Ottawa (our nations capital), to a bit lesser an extent Toronto (our biggest city) and places around that area. the french speaking population thins out again as you go farther east and west from those locales. I cant help much more with the french stuff sorry
Well this is just my input but I would have to agree with 89s1 about heading to the capital as for pace (this is just my opinion) but you can have a stressfull life here too but at the same time you can have a very relaxed and enjoyable life. I personally, like your self am a business man and as such I like to keep a busy life style. For the moment I'm enjoying the go-go mentaility and for now I like to keep it that way, I've managed to maintain a nice balance with family, always have to make time for family but when it's time to get downto business I concentrate on that. The reason I say this is becuase Canada can be a very relaxed place to live but at the same time there are lots of opportunity if you look in the right places. Hope this helps a little. Oh, if you don't mind me asking, what is it that you do?
no not at all I design timber framed houses and I am a property developer and I rent houses as well...
Nice, that's a very nice profesion to be in. I've done some property development as well and I've done very little renting houses my self but I've purhcased and fliped a few houses. I still beleave that the safest way to invest is in real estate, it's a bit difficult for a factory to produce more land hahahaha.
There are many nice areas on the outskirts of major cities. A great place that comes to mind is the Perry Sound area in Ontario. Major market for Timber Framed housing and is only an 1.5 hours from Toronto.
