I didn't know where to post this, so maybe it can be moved to the right area?

I have never detailed a motorcycle before. My dad wants me to detail his Harley this year.

So, how do I go about washing it? any areas I need to cover?
What can I use on the leather seats?
I understand no dressing on the tires, as that is unsafe.
What can I use on the rubber parts of the pedals foot rest? 1z gummi stick, then buff off?
Can I polish it just like a car?

I included pics of his bike. Sorry for the crappy pics, but his garage is croded and it was raining outside.

Thanks in advance for the info.

Well, it's your dad so he can get away with making you suffer, but I'll tell you that ANY motorcycle is hell to detail. I have an Audi R8 customer with a 25th anniversary, chrome Harley that I haven't detailed yet, but absolutely FEAR!! No paint, just chrome...

They can be a pain in the butt to work on but they look great once finished. I usually treat my R6 just like my car but in your case, I would worry about getting water in those speakers, if that's what they are near the passenger seat.

Well, I plan to cover the speakers and the cd player.

I know the tires cant be dressed, and wanted to know how to go about the leather seating, as that can't be slippery either.
I have the Lexol twins currently.

I would use either Autoglym Motorcycle Cleaner or p21S S100 motorcycle cleaner as both are designed to rinse clean so you wont have any white residue left on the black motor casing. Typically motorcycles are quite easy to clean. Don't forget about about the bottom of the engine, inner rear fenders etc. A good APC (Megs, Poorboys-my fav right now or AG Powermax3) will tidy up those areas. You may need a degreaser for the bottom of the motor. You can use your fave polish and waxes on the paint. Lexol should be fine for the seat, it is what I use. Use P21S Polishing Soap on the chrome and finish it with Blackfire All Metal Sealant. You'll crap at how shiny it is. Its kinda weird in that it looks ok right after you use it, but wait 10 minutes and look again. Its like it gets shinier. This was done with P21S and followed up with the Blackfire. Both products are dead easy to use and you should get 3-4 months of protection from the Blackfire.

Leather Masters wont leave the leather slippery at all. Use 1z Cockpit Premium on the rubber pedals.
